Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Le Serre Nuove" Bolgheri 2011 3.0 LT

94 Wine Advocate
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(9/2014) "The 2011 Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia comes across as tight and shut down today. There is plenty of depth in the glass, but less of the appeal I saw just a few months ago. The high tannins of the vintage and the relatively large amount of Petit Verdot (14%) are both very marked at this stage in the wine's life. Readers holding the 2011 are best off cellaring their bottles for at least another 1-2 years. The 2011 Le Serre Nuove is a powerhouse."

Roberto Voerzio "Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata" Barbera d'Alba Riserva 2008

97 James Suckling
94 Wine Advocate
(6/2013) "Vorezio offers new perspective on one of Piedmont's most popular red grapes. The 2008 Barbera d'Alba Riserva Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata (tasted in a magnum) delivers impressive sophistication to Barbera. Careful barrel aging has shaped aromas of bacon fat, smoke, underbrush, rum cake and bitter chocolate. The wine shows impeccable smoothness and elegance in the mouth, with a spicy acidic accent that will appeal to die-hard Barbera enthusiasts. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022."

Roberto Voerzio "Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata" Barbera d'Alba Riserva 2005

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(7/2016) "The 2005 Barbera d'Alba Riserva Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata from magnum is fabulous. Rich, voluptuous and exquisitely layered, the 2005 hits all the right notes. Dark red cherry, plum, mocha and sweet spices are all pushed forward into the sensual, inviting finish. This is a superb showing from Voerzio's Barbera. Drinking Window: 2016 - 2025."

Sauzet Batard Montrachet 2010

94+ Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(9/2012) "(Boudot picked this fruit on the second day of the harvest "to avoid surmaturite"): Pale yellow. Aromatic nose combines peach and acacia flower. Sweet, dense and peachy, with powerful underlying structure and palate-staining fruit. Seems better balanced and higher in acidity than the 2011 version, which accentuates the impression of minerality. Superb Batard with a silky texture and a very long, brisk finish. Likely to be long-lived."

Chateau Clos Fourtet St.-Emilion 2009

100 Wine Advocate
(2/2012) "After tasting it three times from bottle, I am convinced this prodigious wine is one of the greatest young Bordeaux I have ever tasted. Inky blue/purple with notes of camphor, forest floor, blackberry, cassis, sweet cherries, licorice, the wine has stunning aromatics, unctuous texture and an almost inky concentration, but without any hard edges. With considerable tannin and just enough acidity to provide definition, this wine transcends even its premier grand cru classe terroir. It is certainly the finest Clos Fourtet ever produced. Give it 5-7 years of cellaring to allow some of its baby fat to fall away. There is certainly enough structure underneath to keep for 30-50 years. Bravo!"

Cedric Bouchard "Roses de Jeanne Les Ursules" Blanc de Noirs 2012

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2016) "The 2012 Blanc de Noirs Les Ursules is another knockout. Here it is the freshness and energy of Pinot Noir that makes the strongest impression. White orchard fruit, flowers, white pepper and mint give the Ursules its distinctly high-toned personality. The interplay between the richness of the Pinot Noir and inherent tension that characterizes all of these wines is dazzling. Scents of orchard fruit, spice, herb and flowers infuse the creamy, voluptuous layered finish. Disgorged: April 2016. No dosage."

The Vineyardist Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

97+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
98 Wine Advocate
(10/26/2015) "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is flirting with perfection already. It is 100% estate Cabernet Sauvignon from clones 7, 33 and 337, and the harvest took place in late October. The wine was aged in 100% new French oak, of which three-fourths were Darnajou barrels and 25% Taransaud. Unfortunately, only 240 cases were produced. The wine is an absolutely spectacular Diamond Mountain Cabernet. Dense purple, with notes of charcoal, burning embers, licorice, blackberry and cassis, the wine hits the palate with a cascade of gorgeously pure fruit, a full-bodied opulence, but sweet tannin appears in the finish, giving the wine grip and delineation. This fabulous Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon should age beautifully for 25-30 more years."

Chateau Pontet-Canet Pauillac, Bordeaux 2009

100 Wine Advocate
"An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically - a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). This vineyard, which is situated on the high plateau of Pauillac adjacent to Mouton Rothschild, appears to have done everything perfectly in 2009. This cuvee should shut down in the cellar and re-open in a decade or more. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2075." (France)

Mark Herold Wines "Herold" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

95 Wine Advocate
"The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Herold, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon largely from the Stagecoach Vineyard in Coombsville, is a spectacular effort. It boasts copious notes of licorice, charcoal, burning embers, graphite, blackberries and cassis in a full-bodied, full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal, muscular, intense personality. The tannins are soft and the wine is rich as well as convincing. Drink it over the next 12-15 years."

Domaine de Jaugaret St.-Julien Bordeaux 2010

97 Our Score
(06/2015) In our tasting at Neal Rosenthal's warehouse in New York, the 2010 Jaugaret fully coats the sides of the glass with a beautiful, opaque black/purple/ruby color. The nose is quickly filled with classic, appealing aromas of red Bordeaux including blackberry, black and red currants, plum and black cherry. Also immediately noticeable is an absence of intense new oak flavors. Young "high-end" Bordeaux, especially the classified growths, are typically chock full of toast, vanilla and cedar flavors. Not here! Instead, a pure mineral and organic earth tone comes through, as do secondary notes of rocky/dusty earth, smoke, tomato leaf, dark chocolate and bell pepper. The complexity of flavors is supported by a structure that is both elegant and powerful. Being a young wine, the tannins are intense. This is old school Bordeaux! As the wine finishes, we realize it is too young to drink now. Ideally, the 2010 Jaugaret sits another 10 years before drinking. That said, we sampled a second bottle of this wine more recently in Chicago and on day three after being opened the wine was beginning to soften and reveal a glimmer of its ultimate potential. If you do plan on opening a bottle within the next year, we recommend decanting for an extended amount of time and pairing with a hearty meal.
