E.Guigal "La Turque" Cote-Rotie 2010

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $499.99!
99 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(12/2014) "On this showing, the 2010 La Turque was incredible, in a lineup of incredible wines. Offering off-the-chart notes of cassis, blackberry, aged beef, chocolate, crushed rock and exotic flowers, it flows onto the palate with a massive, full-bodied feel that carries ultra-fine tannin, awesome depth and a blockbuster finish. Syrah, or wine for that matter, doesn't get any better. Give this monumental Cote Rotie 5-6 years and enjoy it over the following 2-3 decades."

E.Guigal "La Landonne" Cote-Rotie 2009

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $499.99!
99 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "Another 2009 that exhibits over the top extravagance and richness, and one I can find no fault in, the 2009 Cote Rotie La Landonne offers a colossal and full-bodied profile that carries incredible aromas and flavors of roasted meats, smoke, asphalt and assorted meatiness that's all grounded by a massive core of fruit. A huge wine, it stays perfectly in check, with notable freshness, a deep, layered mid-palate and masses of fine tannin that carry through the finish. Hide this beauty in the cellar for another decade and enjoy."

E.Guigal "La Landonne" Cote-Rotie 2010

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $499.99!
99 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(12/2014) "As with the other two single-parcel Cote Roties, the 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne is pure perfection in a glass. An incredibly massive, muscular, full-bodied effort, it has an insane amount of structure to go with an equal amount of concentrated fruit. Cassis, smoked bacon, coffee bean, cracked pepper and liquid rock-like qualities are all present here, and it hits the palate with a chiseled, focused textured, building tannin and terrific length. It's the most backward of the 2010s and will require a decade of cellaring, but will keep for about as long as you'd like to hold onto bottles."

E.Guigal "La Turque" Cote-Rotie 2009

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $499.99!
98 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "The blockbuster 2009 Cote Rotie La Turque needs time, but there's no denying the quality here. Very ripe and voluptuous, with incredible aromas and flavors of black currants, coffee bean, roasted meats, licorice and raw steak, this full-bodied, muscular and powerful effort has a stacked mid-palate, ultra-fine, yet building tannin and a finish that just won't quit. Comprised of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, it's much more masculine and dense than the La Mouline, and will need additional cellar time to hit its peak."

E.Guigal Ermitage "Ex Voto" Rouge 2009

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $499.99!
97 Wine Spectator
99 Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "Starting out and one of the most prodigious wines in the vintage, the 2009 Ermitage Ex-Voto is locked and loaded, with a massive amount of raw material. Giving up thrilling amounts of plum, licorice, toasted spice and powdered rock-like minerality, it hits the palate with a muscular, full-bodied texture, big tannin and a blockbuster finish. Serious on all accounts, this incredible effort has the fruit and texture to dish out plenty of enjoyment even now, yet really needs short-term cellaring. Two to three decades of evolution should not be out of the question."

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Le Serre Nuove" Bolgheri 2011 3.0 LT

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail on this Double Magnum - $299.99!
94 Wine Advocate
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(9/2014) "The 2011 Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia comes across as tight and shut down today. There is plenty of depth in the glass, but less of the appeal I saw just a few months ago. The high tannins of the vintage and the relatively large amount of Petit Verdot (14%) are both very marked at this stage in the wine's life. Readers holding the 2011 are best off cellaring their bottles for at least another 1-2 years. The 2011 Le Serre Nuove is a powerhouse."

(6/2013) "Vorezio offers new perspective on one of Piedmont's most popular red grapes. The 2008 Barbera d'Alba Riserva Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata (tasted in a magnum) delivers impressive sophistication to Barbera. Careful barrel aging has shaped aromas of bacon fat, smoke, underbrush, rum cake and bitter chocolate. The wine shows impeccable smoothness and elegance in the mouth, with a spicy acidic accent that will appeal to die-hard Barbera enthusiasts. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022."

(7/2016) "The 2005 Barbera d'Alba Riserva Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata from magnum is fabulous. Rich, voluptuous and exquisitely layered, the 2005 hits all the right notes. Dark red cherry, plum, mocha and sweet spices are all pushed forward into the sensual, inviting finish. This is a superb showing from Voerzio's Barbera. Drinking Window: 2016 - 2025."

Chateau La Mondotte St. Emilion Bordeaux 1999

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $399.99!
94 Wine Advocate
(4/29/2002) "Along with the 1997, the 1999 is the most forward and accessible La Mondotte yet produced. Its opaque purple color is followed by a glorious nose of candied black fruits, graphite, licorice, and underbrush. It is full-bodied and sumptuous, possessing amazing extract and richness for the vintage. Its high tannin is hidden by a wealth of glycerin, fruit, and extract. Moreover, the finish lasts for 35-45 seconds. This is an amazing achievement in 1999. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020."

Domaine de Jaugaret St.-Julien Bordeaux 2010

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail on this Magnum - $219.99!
97 Our Score
(06/2015) In our tasting at Neal Rosenthal's warehouse in New York, the 2010 Jaugaret fully coats the sides of the glass with a beautiful, opaque black/purple/ruby color. The nose is quickly filled with classic, appealing aromas of red Bordeaux including blackberry, black and red currants, plum and black cherry. Also immediately noticeable is an absence of intense new oak flavors. Young "high-end" Bordeaux, especially the classified growths, are typically chock full of toast, vanilla and cedar flavors. Not here! Instead, a pure mineral and organic earth tone comes through, as do secondary notes of rocky/dusty earth, smoke, tomato leaf, dark chocolate and bell pepper. The complexity of flavors is supported by a structure that is both elegant and powerful. Being a young wine, the tannins are intense. This is old school Bordeaux! As the wine finishes, we realize it is too young to drink now. Ideally, the 2010 Jaugaret sits another 10 years before drinking. That said, we sampled a second bottle of this wine more recently in Chicago and on day three after being opened the wine was beginning to soften and reveal a glimmer of its ultimate potential. If you do plan on opening a bottle within the next year, we recommend decanting for an extended amount of time and pairing with a hearty meal.
