Charles Lafitte "Brut Prestige" NV

88 Our Score
(11/2016) A tasty sparkler here from the folks behind Charles Lafitte Champagne. Rather than source the fruit from Champagne, grapes for the Brut Prestige come from their property in the Camargue on the Mediterranean coast. Offering good fruit, just the right balance and a special low price, this is the perfect choice for big parties and any-night-of-the-week enjoyment. Median online retail is $13. As we went to press in late October, our price beat all nine listings.

Cave de Tain Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah 2013

88 Our Score
(12/2016) "Soft, peppery and smoky, this Northern Rhone Syrah is produced by one of France's great co-ops, the Cave de Tain. Black fruits lead an easy mouthfeel, all for a very smart price."

Fattoria del Cerro Chianti Colli Senesi 2015

(8/21/2016) "The nose here reminds me of Burgundy with dried flowers and red berry aromas. Tight but has beautiful ethereal red fruit and polished, almost inexistent tannins. Beautiful and delicate. Drink now."

Casa Silva "1912 Vines" Colchagua Valley Sauvignon Gris 2014

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $14.99!
90+ Our Score
90 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(6/2015) "Pale yellow. Smoky minerals, dried citrus fruits and jasmine on the fragrant nose. Spicy and precise, offering intense Meyer lemon and green apple flavors that flesh out and deepen with air. Powerful yet lithe and finely etched, finishing with excellent clarity and mineral-driven persistence. That 1912 designation refers to when the vines were planted, not how many of them are planted."

Nadler Carnuntum Gruner Veltliner 2013

88+ Our Score
(9/2015) The wine is perfectly simple and and easily gulped with grilled veggies, Chinese food or all by itself with friends on a Sunday evening. Flavors of ripe citrus, pear, white pepper and minerals are balanced by a medium-bodied mouthfeel and classic Grüner Veltliner zippiness. If you're looking for a very well made all-purpose white that won't break the bank, here it is!

89 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "There is a creamy nose and hints of pollen and honey, nicely open and expressive. It has a soft palate with a nice combination of volume and acidity, with an austere, chalky minerality. Great entry level and very good value."

Winemakers Notes
"Light and soft-bodied, the 2013 vintage offers a firm acidity balanced with a stark, steely flavor. Aromas are fresh and clean, evoking the scent of early morning after a first rain, with a hint of honeysuckle and underlying notes of tangerine and wet stone. The wine enters the palate with a crisp yet soft quality, flowing into flavors of flower blossom and ending with a mouthwatering finish of fresh-squeezed grapefruit. A long-lasting, zesty minerality leaves the sensation of both subtlety and brightness."
