E.Guigal "La Landonne" Cote-Rotie 2010

99 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(12/2014) "As with the other two single-parcel Cote Roties, the 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne is pure perfection in a glass. An incredibly massive, muscular, full-bodied effort, it has an insane amount of structure to go with an equal amount of concentrated fruit. Cassis, smoked bacon, coffee bean, cracked pepper and liquid rock-like qualities are all present here, and it hits the palate with a chiseled, focused textured, building tannin and terrific length. It's the most backward of the 2010s and will require a decade of cellaring, but will keep for about as long as you'd like to hold onto bottles."

E.Guigal Ermitage "Ex Voto" Rouge 2010

100 Wine Advocate
(12/2014) "At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the 2010 Hermitage Ex Voto is as good as it gets. Following some of the most concentrated, rich Cote Roties ever made, it still ratcheted up the concentration level with its massive, palate saturating levels of gamey dark fruits, cassis, licorice, chocolate, graphite and powdered rock. If this beauty doesn't make fireworks go off in your head, I don't know what will. Full-bodied, deeply concentrated and structured, yet also fine, elegant and delineated, it is nothing short of incredible. Give this awesome Hermitage 5-6 years in the cellar and feel free to drink it anytime over the following 4-5 decades."

E.Guigal "La Turque" Cote-Rotie 2010

99 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(12/2014) "On this showing, the 2010 La Turque was incredible, in a lineup of incredible wines. Offering off-the-chart notes of cassis, blackberry, aged beef, chocolate, crushed rock and exotic flowers, it flows onto the palate with a massive, full-bodied feel that carries ultra-fine tannin, awesome depth and a blockbuster finish. Syrah, or wine for that matter, doesn't get any better. Give this monumental Cote Rotie 5-6 years and enjoy it over the following 2-3 decades."

E.Guigal "La Landonne" Cote-Rotie 2009

99 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "Another 2009 that exhibits over the top extravagance and richness, and one I can find no fault in, the 2009 Cote Rotie La Landonne offers a colossal and full-bodied profile that carries incredible aromas and flavors of roasted meats, smoke, asphalt and assorted meatiness that's all grounded by a massive core of fruit. A huge wine, it stays perfectly in check, with notable freshness, a deep, layered mid-palate and masses of fine tannin that carry through the finish. Hide this beauty in the cellar for another decade and enjoy."

E.Guigal "La Mouline" Cote-Rotie 2009

95 International Wine Cellar
98 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(8/2014) "Just as good, but made in a completely different style, the 2009 Cote Rotie la Mouline (which incorporates a whopping 11% of Viognier) offers an insane bouquet of roasted meats, toast, spice, caramelized meats, coffee bean and deep, concentrated and layered blackberry and cassis-styled fruit. As with the 2010, it has off-the-chart richness, a stacked mid-palate and a gorgeous polish to its tannin. Give it another 3 to 4 years and drink it over the following 2-3 decades."

E.Guigal "La Turque" Cote-Rotie 2009

98 Wine Spectator
100 Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "The blockbuster 2009 Cote Rotie La Turque needs time, but there's no denying the quality here. Very ripe and voluptuous, with incredible aromas and flavors of black currants, coffee bean, roasted meats, licorice and raw steak, this full-bodied, muscular and powerful effort has a stacked mid-palate, ultra-fine, yet building tannin and a finish that just won't quit. Comprised of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, it's much more masculine and dense than the La Mouline, and will need additional cellar time to hit its peak."

E.Guigal Ermitage "Ex Voto" Rouge 2009

97 Wine Spectator
99 Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "Starting out and one of the most prodigious wines in the vintage, the 2009 Ermitage Ex-Voto is locked and loaded, with a massive amount of raw material. Giving up thrilling amounts of plum, licorice, toasted spice and powdered rock-like minerality, it hits the palate with a muscular, full-bodied texture, big tannin and a blockbuster finish. Serious on all accounts, this incredible effort has the fruit and texture to dish out plenty of enjoyment even now, yet really needs short-term cellaring. Two to three decades of evolution should not be out of the question."

Penfolds Grange 2009

97 Wine Advocate
(2/26/2014) "The 2009 Grange Shiraz is a comprised of 84% Barossa, 8% McLaren, and a little Clare Valley and a little Magill fruit with a small 2% of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. At this youthful stage, this deep garnet-purple colored wine puts forward a vivid expression of blackberry preserve aromas amid underlying cassis, black cherry, spice box, char-grilled meat and chocolate box notes. Surprisingly medium to full-bodied (it smells much fuller!) with taut flavors that are very closed in the mouth, it has firm, chewy tannins to structure through the long and earthy finish. 406 cases imported to the US. Drink it 2018 to 2035+."
