Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes 2000

92 Wine Spectator
(7/2014) "Forward and flattering, with unctuous marmalade, blood orange, apricot chutney and ginger notes. Juicy and engaging, but without the finely beaded acidity to stretch out fully.-Non-blind Yquem vertical. Drink now through 2035."

Sauzet Batard Montrachet 2010

94+ Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(9/2012) "(Boudot picked this fruit on the second day of the harvest "to avoid surmaturite"): Pale yellow. Aromatic nose combines peach and acacia flower. Sweet, dense and peachy, with powerful underlying structure and palate-staining fruit. Seems better balanced and higher in acidity than the 2011 version, which accentuates the impression of minerality. Superb Batard with a silky texture and a very long, brisk finish. Likely to be long-lived."

Cedric Bouchard "Roses de Jeanne Les Ursules" Blanc de Noirs 2012

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2016) "The 2012 Blanc de Noirs Les Ursules is another knockout. Here it is the freshness and energy of Pinot Noir that makes the strongest impression. White orchard fruit, flowers, white pepper and mint give the Ursules its distinctly high-toned personality. The interplay between the richness of the Pinot Noir and inherent tension that characterizes all of these wines is dazzling. Scents of orchard fruit, spice, herb and flowers infuse the creamy, voluptuous layered finish. Disgorged: April 2016. No dosage."

Bollinger "007 Spectre Limited Edition" Brut Champagne 2009

92 Wine Advocate
(3/2016) "Bollinger's 2009 Millesime Edition Limitee 007 has a very clear, fine and fruity bouquet that reflects a perfect blend of Grands Crus dressed with Pinot Noir (68%) and Chardonnay (32%). Fermented in small used barrels and disgorged in February 2014, the 2009 is very elegant, intense and balanced on the palate; it reveals a remarkable finesse with fine pearls and sweet cherry-flavored fruit. Its finish is well structured and quite powerful and fruity, though it keeps the elegant style."

Bodegas Valdespino "Cardenal" Palo Cortado VORS NV

99 Wine Advocate
(8/2013) ?The NV Palo Cortado Cardenal VORS, like the whole VORS collection from Valdespino is outstanding. It is fed from the solera of the Palo Cortado C.P. where the Palomino grapes come from the Macharnudo Alto vineyard, fermented in American oak botas. It's 22% alcohol and has nine grams of (undetectable) residual sugar which makes it very drinkable. It's a monumental wine of dark mahogany color with a green edge, a complex, ever-changing, concentrated, clean and delineated nose of spices, dark chocolate, Cuban cigar and balsamic notes of incense, and a sharp, saline palate. It is highly concentrated, powerful and clean, with an eternal, lingering aftertaste. Deciding between Coliseo and Cardenal might be splitting hairs, and as much as I love Coliseo, I felt Cardenal was just one notch above. At the quality helm of Palo Cortado. Drink 2013-2025. ?

Donnhoff Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Eiswein 2011

Winemakers Notes
92 Wine Advocate
(2/2013) ""'You with your (expletive) Eiswein!' Gabi told me when we left these grapes hanging," relates Donnhoff, and in fact his 2011 Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Eiswein was another of those that threatened to disrupt the Christmas holidays, and when that didn't happen threatened yet worse. Helmut and Gabi Donnhoff left for Singapore and Cornelius for the U.S. "My daughter Christina was at home," Donnhoff continues, "academically astute, loves wine, but has no idea about viticulture. On January 17, the telephone rings. 'Mama, it's going to get cold tonight. And not just a little: minus 10 (14o F.). What should I do?!' So we set-up a three-way Skype connection, helped organized everything with the pickers, monitored the situation hour-by-hour, and walked Christina through the entire cellar process." I wish I could after all that say we have here 250 liters of truly great Donnhoff Eiswein, but the 2011 vintage itself is surely responsible for any weaknesses, not the unorthodox process by which picking and pressing were managed, let alone Christina, thanks to whom the world is enriched by an amazing if slightly awkward young wine. Musk and leather; prickly radish and lemon rind; caramel apple and honey; passion fruit and mango inform an intense aromatic as well as ultra-concentrated palate performance. Unlike with so many other 2011s rendered from frozen grapes in early 2012, one can't complain here about a lack of Eiswein-like acidity - but it takes-on a somewhat detached, slightly metallic and strident edge. Perhaps this extreme wine's caramelized and animal aspects will reconcile themselves in time with its sharp citricity and radish-like sizzle, but the ways of Eiswein in the bottle are capricious."

(10/31/2016) "This mouthwatering Champagne shows a lovely sense of finesse, with firm acidity deftly married to a rich profile of crème de cassis, toasted brioche and lime blossom, accented by hints of café au lait, singed orange peel and exotic spice. Egly Ouriet "Les Crayeres" Brut Blanc de Noirs Vieille Vignes NV

96 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(8/2016) "The NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Les Crayères Vieilles Vignes is one of the more refined, polished wines I have ever tasted from Francis Egly. Everything is simply in the right place. Mirabelle plum, hard candy, flowers, mint and chalk are all beautifully delineated in a super-classy, polished Champagne that showcases the Egly-Ouriet style at its very best. Lifted, gracious and precise, the Vieilles Vignes is simply magnificent. The 25% new oak is totally integrated, even at this early stage. This release is 60% 2009 and 40% 2008, a blend of vintages that could not possibly be more complementary. Disgorged November, 2015. Dosage is 2 grams per liter."

Vilmart et Cie "Coeur de Cuvee" Brut 2008

95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
95+ Wine Advocate
(6/2016) "The 2008 Coeur de Cuvée Premier Cru Brut is a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir from 55-years-old vines, whose must comes from the coeur de cuvée, so the very best part of the pressing. This 2008 was disgorged in March 2015 with eight grams per liter. The wine opens with intense and ripe, highly elegant and Chardonnay-driven fruit with intense lemon, hazelnut and chalk flavors. It's rich and elegant on the palate, very firm and mineral, with great length, complexity and a string of mineral expression. This wine has great, great ageing potential. So beautifully fresh and mineral, so firm, fresh and elegant. Great finesse and complexity, this Champagne is very long and full of tension and finesse."

Guillot-Broux "Les Genievrieres" Macon-Cruzille Blanc 2014 3.0 LT

90 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(12/2015) "(all of the 2014s had been bottled by the time of my October visit, in part due to the short 2013 crop): Aromas of lemon, almond flower and hazelnut, plus a hint of spicy oak. Very dry, smooth and extract-rich, showing youthfully bound-up lemon and saline flavors supported by powerful minerality. Really penetrating and energetic, and firm and perfumed on the lingering finish. From active calcaire soil, as with the Perrières. Offers a lot of flavor for just 12.8% alcohol."
