Hiedler Kitmannsberg November Gruner Veltliner 2010

91-92+ Wine Advocate
93 Our Score
A cellar selection, this powerful white will age effortlessly for the next 15+ years, becoming more and more complex as time progresses. The Wine Advocate rated this 91-92+ from the barrel. From the bottle it is even more impressive. Importer Terry Theise opines that... "The wine is a pagan orgy they held in the Parthenon while the Gods were sleeping. As my Boston chums would say, it's off the ga-hinges." Not a traditional wine review, but his point comes through loud and clear! Allow this at least a few years in the cellar and then hold on tight!

Franz Hirtzberger "Axpoint" Smaragd Wachau Gruner Veltliner 2013

92 Wine Spectator
93 Wine Advocate
94 Our Score
95 Wine Enthusiast
(5/2015) "The remarkably powerful nose takes time to open up, hinting at yellow flowers, fern fronds, beeswax and citrus. The palate is immensely concentrated but not heavy, with a sleek density and a feeling that this has barely begun to breathe. Hang on to this; soft sprays of pepper hint at the pleasure to come. Drink as of 2017."

Franz Hirtzberger Smaragd Weissburgunder 2012

Only 25 cases of this gem were imported into the US, to call it limited availability is an absolute understatement!
91 Wine Advocate
93+ Our Score
(8/2016) We first tasted this 2012 Weissburgunder last year at Peter Weygandt's annual tasting in New York and it blew us away. The silky, velvety, incredibly dense texture and mouthfeel alone are worth the price of admission. Ripe pear, peach, apricot, honeycomb, savory green earth, button mushroom and rocky minerality are just a few of the seductive flavors to indulge in. The complexity of flavor and richness of fruit are at a level simply not found except in the world's most exclusive wines. Like Hirtzberger's other bottlings, this Weissburgunder will develop even more complexity in years to come. Several days after opening, our sample showed no sign of slowing down, evidence of its quality and ageability.

Emmerich Knoll Ried Loibenberg Federspiel Riesling 2015

90 Wine Advocate
(6/2016) "From higher plots in the south-facing Loibenberg, the 2015 Loibner Riesling Ried Loibenberg Federspiel displays an elegant and intense, minerally flavored bouquet with ripe-apple aromas intertwined with pure flavors of crushed stones. Lean, fresh and piquant, this is an elegant and very mineral Riesling with a stimulating purity and salinity in the finish. Lovely, fresh, full of tension and provided with a very good length. Drink: 2018 - 2026."

Anton Bauer Wagram Pinot Noir 2014

90 Our Score
93 Wine Enthusiast
(9/2016) "Pure notes of red fruits reach the nose: Morello cherry and mulberry harmonize beautifully. Their purity pervades a palate that has the lightest touch: there is something authentic, beautiful and unforced about this. There is a suggestion, too, of herb, moss or undergrowth. This unpretentious winemaking style lets this pure, glorious fruit speak for itself and brings with it a profound sense of honest depth, bountiful earth and full-fruited balance."

Ecker "Brilliant" Wagram Zweigelt 2013

89 Our Score
(10/2015) While better known for their whites, the reds of Austria are fantastic values that beg to be explored. This pretty and fruity Zweigelt would be a perfect introduction. Raised entirely in stainless steel, the wine is pure and bright. Vividly bright red raspberries and strawberries are perfectly complimented by a little bit of spice and earth, gaining depth with air.

(11/2015) "Schooled in Austria, Wess cut his teeth at assorted properties in Bordeaux before returning to his homeland and establishing his eponymous operation in 2003. This is aromatic, graceful and vivid Grüner showing lovely tension, dried herbs and an abundance of citrus fruit."

Schloss Gobelsburg "Schlosskellerei Gobelsburger" Kamptal Gruner Veltliner 2015

90 Wine & Spirits
90+ Our Score
90 Vinous, David Schildknecht
(2/2017) "Really ripe flavors of apple and honeydew melon, combined with modest acidity, make for a net impression of subtle but attractive sweetness. The feel is lush for an entry-level bottling, but there is still a sense of buoyancy along with ample refreshing primary juiciness. A nutty-rich suggestion of lentil adds midpalate depth. And, as so often from this particular Gobelsburg bottling (labeled until recently as "Gobelsburger"), a mouthwatering and intriguing mineral dimension emerges in the finish, here evoking crab meat and shell reduction in its combination of salts, iodine and smoky sweetness. Drinking Window: 2017 - 2019."

(7/2016) "Best Buy - A rather closed nose wants to give little away, but the palate is zingy with yeast, grapefruit peel and fresh, greenish leafiness, all held with focus and poise. Very refreshing."
