97 James Suckling
(06/19/2013) "Aromas of tar, spices and dark fruits. Full-bodied and very layered, with polished tannins and a savory finish of ripe fruit and dried spices. Lasts a very long time on the palate. Drink now or hold"

Brovia "Rocche di Castiglione" Barolo 2011

95 Our Score
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2015) "The 2011 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is sweet, floral and wonderfully expressive, all Brovia signatures. Silky tannins provide the backdrop as this sensual, polished Barolo shows off its class. Perfumed notes are woven throughout, but it is the wine's exceptional textural finesse that stands out most. Hints of hard candy, mint, cinnamon and succulent red cherries add the final shades of dimension. In 2011, the Rocche stands out for its total sense of class. Drinking window 2018 - 2036."

Roberto Voerzio "La Serra" Barolo 2008

95 Wine Spectator
96+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(4/2012). "The 2008 Barolo La Serra emerges from the glass with dark red fruit, tar, smoke, licorice, spices and new leather. Today the 2008 comes across as surprisingly dark and masculine. The high-toned floral notes that are typical of this site have been replaced by a much darker, brooding register filled with tar, incense and black fruit notes. The wine freshens up beautifully with time in the glass as the aromatics become a bit more expressive. Voerzio's 2008 La Serra is a huge and hugely promising wine. The firm tannins argue for at least a few more years in bottle. A hint of rose petal lingers on the intese finish."

Ettore Germano "Lazzarito" Barolo Riserva 2009

95 Wine Advocate
(6/28/2015) "The 2009 Barolo Riserva Lazzarito sees a long 60-day maceration period and up to three years in large oak casks. The care and attention of that special craftsmanship comes through loud and clear. This is a gorgeous wine that delivers careful concentration that never overpowers the wine's delicate nuances. The effect is linear, sharp and tight. The lively finish is driven by menthol, balsam and exotic herbs. Drink Date: 2015 - 2030."

Elio Grasso "Gavarina Vigna Chiniera" Barolo 2011

94 James Suckling
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2014) "Grasso's 2011 Barolo Gavarini Vigna Chiniera captures the essence and personality of the year in its inviting, radiant personality. Bright red stone fruits, crushed rocks, pine, mint and flowers are all lifted and aromatically expressive in the glass. The Gavarini is already quite open and inviting. I imagine it will offer a wide window of pure drinking pleasure over the next 20 years or so. This is a striking Barolo from the Grasso family."

Armando Parusso "Le Coste di Monforte" Barolo 2010

95 James Suckling
95 Wine Spectator
(10/1/2014) "Aromatic, with rose, strawberry, raspberry and wild cherry flavors. The fruit tastes more macerated than fresh, with flourishes of licorice and tar. Silky, yet with a solid structure supporting the flavors. Shows fine length and leaves a mouthwatering impression. Best from 2017 through 2033. 100 cases made."

Brovia "Brea Vigna Ca' Mia" Barolo 2011

95 Our Score
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2015) "Lavender, mint, sage, smoke, tobacco and plums are all laced together in the 2011 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca'Mia. As always, the Ca'Mia is a decidedly vertical Barolo built on a spine of persistent tannin, but in 2011 there is a little bit of added polish that serves to soften the contours. Tucked off the main road, Brea remains one of the least well-known vineyards in Serralunga. The 2011 is a great wine to start exploring some of the nuances of this site. A huge finish that brings together power and voluptuousness captures the pure radiance of the year. Drinking window 2019 - 2036."

Ghiomo "Sansteu" Nebbiolo d'Alba 2010

92 Our Score
(8/2015) Ghiomo has been a staff favorite here for years now. This 2010 bottling of Nebbiolo shows exactly why. A blend of two single vineyards in Alba, located directly across the river from Barbaresco. The Santseau showcases the more feminine side of Nebbiolo, much like its cousin from across the river but at a fraction of what you would pay for this quality. Quintessential Nebbiolo, whispering aromas of tar, smoke, leather and dried cherries follow through on the palate vibrantly. Lovely tannins grip snugly and the acidity leaves you thirsting for more. Drink now with a good bit of air or enjoy for many years to come.
