Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" 2013

98 James Suckling
97 Wine Advocate
(7/2016) "The 2013 Bolgheri Sassicaia is released 30 years after the death of Tenuta San Guido founder, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, and in the same year that his son Nicolò celebrated his 80th birthday. This is a wine of excellent execution, beautiful balance and seamless intensity. The bouquet opens slowly to reveal delicate aromas of dark fruit and integrated spice that build in steady strength. That forward momentum, which is so specific to Sassicaia, is what ultimately brings us confidence in the wine's remarkable ageing potential. The mouthfeel delivers freshness and power, but in measured doses, with long and silky persistence. The 2013 vintage should be set aside for ten more years. Drink Date: 2018 - 2040."

Fattoria di Felsina "Fontalloro" Tuscany Rosso 2010

(8/2013) "The 2010 Fontalloro (Sangiovese) is impeccable. A sweet, open bouquet melds into expressive red fruits. Compared to the 2010 Rancia, Fontalloro is a decidedly more delicate, feminine wine. All the elements are very nicely balanced. I expect the 2010 will enjoy a fairly broad window of drinkability. Today I give the 2010 a very slight nod over the 2009, only because I think the 2010 will age a little longer, but both are striking."

Tolaini "Picconero" Toscana Rosso 2010

94 James Suckling
94 Wine Advocate
(10/2014) "A compelling blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, the 2010 Picconero Tenuta Montebello packs a powerful punch in terms of density and concentration. This expression is rich and chewy with dark cherry and blackberry as protagonist. Solid supporting roles are played by tobacco, spice and bitter dark chocolate. The 2010 vintage shows a superior sense of finesse and silkiness in the mouth. Picconero can be put aside for long cellar aging."

Caprili "AdAlberto" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2010

(3/3/2016) "Caprili owns some of the most beautiful vineyards in Montalcino near Soldera (Case Basse) and Angelo Gaja's Pieve di Santa Restituta. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva AdAlberto is a tight and powerful wine that does a great job of capturing the ideal growing conditions of the vintage. The wine is slightly closed and tightly wound at this point, but Caprili has a proven track record for long aging potential. It promises a slow evolution to those who have the patience to wait. Dark fruit, spice, cola and grilled herb rise to the forefront. In the mouth, the wine shows rich texture and plump, rounded tannins. I tasted this wine 24 hours after opening the bottle, and it showed a beautiful and increasingly elegant personality."

Tenuta di Valgiano Colline Lucchesi 2013

93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2016) "The 2013 Tenuta di Valgiano is gorgeous, although it will need time in bottle to be at its most expressive. Dark raspberry, pomegranate, spice, mint and blood orange give the 2013 much of its exotic personality. The 2013 is a distinctly mid-weight Tenuta with bright acidity and considerable overall tension. I can't wait to see how the 2013 develops in bottle, as it has quite a bit of energy lying in reserve. Drink 2018 - 2033."

Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino 2011

94 James Suckling
95 Wine Advocate
(3/2016) "The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino shows an impressive level of richness and density that starts with a long succession of black fruit aromas, dried cherry, spice, leather and tobacco. There are evident hints of the warm vintage that become apparent thanks to the blackness of the fruit and the general softness of the aromas. The wine's texture is yielding and dense with extra layers of plump fruit and chewy richness. This the proverbial "restaurant Brunello" that will drink beautifully in the near and medium-term. It already tastes spectacular and is beautifully fleshed out at this young age."

Fattoria di Felsina "Maestro Raro" Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

This Tre-Bicchieri award winner is a stunner. Decant for an hour or two and then kick back and enjoy this exceptionally refined Cabernet.
94 Wine Advocate
(6/2012) "The 2008 Maestro Raro is beautiful in this vintage, a year in which Cabernet Sauvignon varietal character reigns supreme. Plums, cassis, wild herbs, leather and licorice all come together gracefully in this gorgeous, expressive wine. The 2008 impresses for its length and striking, pure finish. This is a great showing. Maestro Raro is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Sangiovese, Trebbiano and Malvasia vines that were grafted over beginning in 1984. The 2008 is understated and classy, but its all there. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028."

(10/31/2015) "Dense and tightly wound, with a beam of black cherry and blueberry fruit. Cedar, smoke, tar and tobacco notes add nuance, giving this a complex impression overall. Balanced and long, with a compact finish that should expand as this integrates more fully. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2018 through 2032. 3,750 cases imported."
