Clos i Terrasses "Laurel" Priorat 2014

95 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "I was really blown away by the aromatics of the 2014 Laurel. As soon as I put my nose in the glass I was transported to the vineyards of Gratallops, with a blast of wild herbs and flowers followed by a stream of smoked meat, juicy red currants and raspberries. It is mostly Garnacha but with some 10% each Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are cooled down during the night and in the morning some are destemmed, and some others are left with the stems on and fermented mostly with indigenous yeasts. The élevage here is one year in a combination of used oak barrels, oak vats, cement and amphorae. They have increased the volume of wine being raised in amphorae in this 2014. This might very well be the finest Laurel to date. Simply stunning!"

Round Pond Rutherford Napa Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

93 Our Score
94 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec. This is a beautiful Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon. Layers of gorgeous fruit and some kirsch liqueur followed by blacker currants and plums jump from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple-colored wine. Full-bodied, layered and rich, this provocative wine is actually a great value considering its stunning quality. Drink it over the next 20 years."

Christophe Mignon "Pur Meunier" Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature Champagne NV

93 Our Score
93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2016) "A wine of real finesse and nuance, Mignon's NV Brut Nature Blanc de Noirs Pur Meunier is exquisite. Rich, layered and vinous, but never heavy, the Blanc de Noirs Pur Meunier speaks to grace above all else. The flavors are distinctly floral and savory, while the fruit lies more in the background. Hints of dried pear, brioche, dried herbs and flowers meld into the gracious, mid-weight finish. This is an especially understated wine from Christophe Mignon. The current release is equal parts 2013 and 2012 vintages, bottled with no dosage. Disgorged: February 2016."

Woodward Canyon "Artist Series" Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

94 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2016) "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is straight up terrific, with tons of black currants, plums and spice to go with background smoked herbs and toasted bread nuances. Incorporating 11% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, aged 20 months in 50% new French oak, this full-bodied, rich, layered beauty has a great mid-palate, a silky texture and ripe tannin, all suggesting it will have a graceful evolution. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 10-15. Drink Date: 2019 - 2034."

Domaine Gilles Troullier "L'Espirit du Temps" Cotes Catalanes Rouge 2013

94 Wine Advocate
(4/2015) "Checking in as 100% Grenache, the downright sexy 2013 Côtes Catalanes l'Esprit du Temps has full-bodied richness and depth to go with rock-star notes of black raspberry, crushed violets and hints of pepper. It has a serious amount of texture, yet stays light, elegant and pure. It too will have a decade or more of longevity."

St. Francis Sonoma Valley Reserve Merlot 2013

94+ Wine Advocate
(3/3/2016) "The opaque purple 2013 Merlot Reserve spent 20 months in French oak. It has slightly more wood and tannin than its sibling, but wonderfully rich, concentrated, dark black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, stunning concentration, and world-class quality. What is so noticeable in this line-up of St. Francis wines is how much better the oak is integrated than it was 10 or 15 years ago. This wine will benefit from 5 years of cellaring and last three decades. Drink Date: 2016 - 2046."

La Ca' Nova Montefico Barbaresco 2011

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(10/2014) "The 2011 Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina is marked by veins of underlying chalkiness, minerality and acidity, all classic signatures of Montefico. Intensely floral and lifted, the 2011 graces the palate with white pepper, orange rind, rose petal, kirsch and mint as it fills out all the register from top to bottom. Far from an easygoing 2011, the Bric Mentina is going to need a few years in bottle for the tannins to soften. This is an absolutely gorgeous Barbaresco from La Ca' Nova."

Dry Creek Vineyard "The Mariner" Sonoma Proprietary Red 2013

90 Wine Advocate
(3/3/2016) "A proprietary blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, the 2013 Proprietary Red The Mariner offers good blackcurrant fruit, new saddle leather, and toasty vanillin from the oak (about 40% is new). This attractive, medium-bodied, refreshing, Bordeaux-style wine should drink nicely for at least a decade."

Au Bon Climat "Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay 2012

95 Wine & Spirits
(10/2016) "Jim Clendenen made his first Bien Nacido chardonnay in 1989. He knows his way around the sprawling hillside and benchland vineyard better than just about anyone, and makes this exclusively from K Block, a bench of shale-laced gravelly loam that was planted to own-rooted gewurztraminer in 1973. The block was grafted over to chardonnay in the 1990s, leaving the roots intact, so the grapes continue to benefit from some of the oldest root systems in Santa Barbara County. The wine spent 18 months in new oak barrels, but you'd hardly know it-the intensity of the fruit is the first and last impression, fresh and clean as a breeze through an orchard, suggesting orange blossoms, peach pits and pollen. The wood feels more like the detailing of the wine than the frame, polishing the fruit into a satiny, harmonious form. This is a California chardonnay that will last ten years or more in the cellar-vinous, energetic and deep. (332 cases)"
