Carneros Highway "Nueva" Carneros Chardonnay 2015

89+ Our Score
(3/2017) Butterscotch, nectarine, ripe apple and toasted almonds all jump from the glass of this well-balanced Chardonnay. Creamy and toasty, it balances old school Chard oak character with new school brightness and agility. A go-to Vin Chicago favorite, this bottling offers something for all Chardonnay lovers.

Janodet "Domaine Les Fines Graves" Beaujolais Villages 2015

90 Our Score
90 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(10/2016) "Vivid red. Pungent aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry licorice and mocha carry a smoky mineral topnote. Pliant dark fruit flavors and hints of rose pastille and bitter chocolate, along with a jolt of cracked pepper that adds backend cut. Finishes broad, smooth and quite long, revealing no rough edges and a lingering suggestion of sappy dark berries. This wine consistently delivers great value and punches well above its weight."

Yannick Pacquet "Domaine des Granges" Macon Fuisse 2015

89+ Our Score
(3/2017) This excellent 100% Chardonnay was raised entirely in tank, resulting in a fresh wine that shows the plump ripeness of the 2015 vintage. 20% of the wine is actually declassified Pouilly-Fuisse! Flavors of orchard and citrus fruits are presented alongside button mushroom and white rock minerals. Great value!

Silky and open-knit, offering sweet red berry flavors and suggestions of five-spice powder and candied rose. Finishes with bright, tangy lift, strong cut and very good persistence, leaving a juicy red berry quality behind. Drinking window: 2017 - 2023."

Schwedhelm Estate Trocken Pfalz Riesling 2015

90 Our Score
(3/2017) Our good friend Robert Houde discovered a diamond in the rough with this tiny producer. Schwedhelm produced this trocken (dry) wine from certified organic grapes sourced from limestone strewn soils in the Pfalz region of Germany. The deep straw color is unique at this price point and is deliciously followed by flavors of ripe citrus and intense minerality. From the very exciting 2015 vintage, this wine tastes more expensive than it is.

(12/2015) "Bright purple. Lively and spicy on the incisive nose, displaying intense black and blue fruit and floral scents and a hint of minerality. Silky and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and berry skin flavors that deepen slowly with aeration. Closes silky and long, with gentle tannins adding shape and grip. This elegant wine drinks surprisingly well now after being open for an hour or so."

Falesco "Tellus" Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

92 James Suckling
90 Wine Advocate
(3/2016) "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Tellus is an amazing value wine and to my palate, it is by far the best of the three wines in the Tellus series. The wine offers true varietal notes of blackberry and dried cherry. It is aged in neutral oak for up to six months. You can taste some of those toasted notes, but they are not invasive."

Domaine de Plaugier "La Grange de Piaugier" Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2015

90 Our Score
(3/2017) A fantastic value, this beauty comes from the younger vines of Piaugier's Sablet vineyards. The nose is loaded with lavender notes along with red berry and garrigue. Wonderful concentration and balance on the palate, with fresh berries and pepper on the finish. Mostly Grenache, with Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan. You'll be hard pressed to find a better way to spend $12 on a bottle of red.
