Samsara "Turner Vineyard" Santa Barbara Syrah 2012

93+ Wine Advocate
95+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(6/2015) "Once again, the 2012 Syrah Turner Vineyard is the star of the show at Melville. An exotic mélange of blood orange, violets and spices makes a strong first impression. Deep and beautifully layered on the palate, the Turner offers superb depth and plenty of tannin to back it up. An explosive, vibrant finish only adds to the wine's considerable appeal. This is a real head-turner from SAMsARA and proprietor Chad Melville."

Stolpman Estate Grown Syrah 2014

93 Wine Enthusiast
91 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(9/2016) "The 2014 Syrah Estate is surprisingly succulent for a young Stolpman Syrah, which Peter Stolpman attributes to warmer nights and softer extractions. Dark cherry, plum, mocha and dark spices are fused together in a deep, yet mid-weight, highly expressive Ballard Canyon Syrah. The whole clusters are felt but also very nicely balanced. If this is the future direction for Stolpman, all I can say is the winery has made huge strides in recent years."

Varner "El Camino" Santa Barbara County Chardonnay 2014

Typical retail is $25. As we went to press, our price beat every single online listing!
92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(6/2016) "Despite its very reasonable price, the 2014 Chardonnay El Camino Vineyard delivers serious intensity, richness and nuance. Broad, ample and phenolic, the 2015 exudes all the classic Varner signatures, structure being the most obvious of these. Yellow orchard fruit, mint, candied lemon, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes are front and center. This is one of the most singular Santa Barbara Chardonnays readers will come across. The style and palate weight is more than a little reminiscent of the wines the Varners made in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The 2014 was fermented in steel and aged in a combination of puncheon (25%) and steel, with blocked malo. This is a very serious Chardonnay for $25."

Baileyana "Firepeak" Edna Valley Chardonnay 2014

90 Our Score
93 Wine Enthusiast
(3/2017) "Burgundy-raised vintner Christian Roguenant gets to show his stuff in this line of Firepeak wines. Wet cement, honeysuckle, crisp Asian pear and the slightest hints of tropicality show on the nose, while the palate offers yellow grapefruit, lemon skins, squeezed lime and lime-blossom flavors, wrapped around nervy tension."

Liquid Swords Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2014

89+ Our Score
(3/2017) This 100% whole cluster Pinot Noir is made by a well known Central Coast producer who must remain nameless. Referencing the Wu-Tang Clan, Liquid Swords is serious Pinot Noir. The slightly cloudy, pale ruby color suggests "hands-off" winemaking, as does the sweet-but-tart red fruit deliciousness. Allow it time to breathe and the wine reveals even more fruit, flowers and texture. This is a totally singular expression of sub-$20 Central Coast Pinot Noir that we haven't experienced before. Very cool wine.

90 Wine Spectator
(3/31/2017) "Pleasantly earthy, with a mix of black cherry, fresh mushroom, light oak and savory herb elements combining into a complex weave of flavors and textures. The tannins are ripe and firm. Drink now through 2022."
