Anderson's Conn Valley "Reserve" Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(9/2016) "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is intense, deceptively medium in body and brooding in style. Lavender, sage, menthol, spice and crème de cassis infuse this striking, delineated Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2013 could use another few years in barrel, but it is quite impressive, even at this early stage. This is a great showing from the 2013."

The Hess Collection Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

We loved the 2012 vintage. Now we're on to the 2013 and it's even better!
94 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "Another sensational effort and probably one of the best wines to emerge from Hess in the last 30 years is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Mt. Veeder, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Malbec. This is sensational wine with fabulous aromatics of white flowers, licorice, roasted coffee, blueberry and black raspberry liqueur, with pen ink and graphite making an appearance. It is a full-bodied, rich and a compelling effort from Hess."

Peirson Meyer "Miller Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2014

94 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "Two veteran winemakers from the Northern California wine scene - Peirson and Meyer have their own set of wines ranging in production from a low of 45 cases to a high of 500 cases. Most of these are in the 200- to 300- case range. ...The 2014 Pinot Noir Miller Vineyard was treated similarly, but is a much lighter color as it is from 100% Dijon clone 828. This has the forest floor, rose petals, sweet strawberry and cherry notes, but the killer aromatics is what gives this wine sensational appeal. It is medium-bodied, fleshy and should be drunk over the next 5-6 years to take advantage of the exceptional fragrance it offers."

Chalk Hill "Estate Bottled" Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2014

This is the real-deal. A serious Chardonnay from one of California's legendary producers.
92+ Our Score
92 Wine Spectator
(12/15/2016) "Strikes a balance between rich, spicy oak and an intense core of fruit, echoing pear, apple and melon flavors. Maintains equilibrium, ending with creamy, vanilla-scented oak notes. Drink now."

Michael Mondavi "Emblem" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

92 James Suckling
90 Our Score
90 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2015) "The 2013 Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. It sells at a very modest $35.00. The wine has a deep ruby/purple color, loads of juicy fruit, a medium to full body (about 14.7% natural alcohol), a lush, heady, accessible mouthfeel. This is a steal, and a sleeper of the vintage, and capable of lasting up to a decade or more."

Ridge "East Bench" Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2013

90 Wine Advocate
91 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
90 Our Score
(6/2015) Ridge's East Bench bottling is 100% Zinfandel that comes from a single site overlooking Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley. As always, it offers exceptional quality that outperforms its price. The style here is about freshness and purity, forgoing the jammy qualities associated with many Zins. A fruit forward attack of mixed red and blue berries lead the way followed by sweet, but subtle, oak spices of vanilla and coconut. The harmonious flavors are beautifully in balance with a soft and round texture that is refined and elegant.

90+ Cellars "Lot 94" Rutherford Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Classic Rutherford Cab for $16.99. Crazy!
90+ Our Score
(3/2017) We would LOVE to know where the guys from 90+ source this insane value Cabernet, but the've been sworn to secrecy! This isn't just Napa Valley Cabernet for $16.99, this is Rutherford Cabernet for $16.99, which is crazy! Sweet black fruit, vanilla, mocha, toast, tobacco, smoked herbs and a soft, warm mouthfeel confirm this as real-deal Napa Cab. This wine is very impressive for the money.

Marietta Cellars "Christo - Lot Number 3" Sonoma-Mendocino Red Blend NV

91 Wine Advocate
(10/29/2015) "There are approximately 12,000 cases of the NV Christo Lot 3, which is a hedonistic blend of Grenache, Syrah, Petite Sirah and a touch of Viognier to uplift the aromatics. This is, again, aged in neutral oak for two years and a blend of three vintages: 2011, 2012 and 2013. This is my favorite of all of these wines - a wine of exceptional purity and intensity and plenty of character, as this one is 70% Syrah and the rest the other three grapes. It tips the scales at a lofty 15.3% alcohol, but it's well hidden behind a cascade of blackberry and cassis fruit, roasted meats, steak tartare, licorice and Provençal herbs. It's a big boy, and that's exactly the way they want it. This wine should drink well for 7-8 years, but it's meant to be consumed in its exuberant youthfulness. Drink Date: 2015 - 2023."

Carneros Highway "Nueva" Carneros Chardonnay 2015

89+ Our Score
(3/2017) Butterscotch, nectarine, ripe apple and toasted almonds all jump from the glass of this well-balanced Chardonnay. Creamy and toasty, it balances old school Chard oak character with new school brightness and agility. A go-to Vin Chicago favorite, this bottling offers something for all Chardonnay lovers.
