Herman Story Wines "Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Barbara County Syrah 2013

96 Wine Advocate
(8/2016) "The 2013 Syrah Bien Nacido is silky, elegant and ethereally textured, with killer aromas and flavors of black olives, smoked game, black fruits and pepper. A textbook example of Syrah from this cool climate, marine-influenced site, drink this full-bodied, gorgeously fresh, pure and lengthy Syrah anytime over the coming decade. This was co-fermented with 3% Viognier and spent 24 months in 100% new French oak, which has been completely adsorbed by this sensational wine."

(12/2016) "Bright ruby-red. Suave, oak-spiced aromas of ripe dark berries, cherry cola and minerals carry a zesty floral overtone. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry, cola and lavender pastille flavors plus hints of mocha and spicecake. Shows impressive clarity and spicy lift on a very long, fruit-driven finish that's shaped by even, slow-mounting tannins."

Domaine Bachey-Legros Puligny Montrachet 2014

92-93 Our Score
(11/2016) Made from a combination of estate and purchased fruit, the 2014 Bachey-Legros was barrel fermented in new and used French oak. Classic in style, it displays beautiful aromas of white fruits and nutty oakiness. Apple, peach and lemon dominate on the rich palate, along with a lovely finish of almond, mineral and citrus.

Schiavenza "Prapo" Barolo 2011

95 Wine Spectator
(2/29/2016) "Sweet cherry and plum notes are complemented by licorice, leather, tar and tobacco flavors in this muscular, beefy red, which is balanced, with a long aftertaste that emphasizes its savory, briary side. Best from 2019 through 2033. 275 cases made."

D. Henriet-Bazin "Cuvee Marie-Amelie Fleur de Vigne" 1er Cru Brut Champagne 2010

93+ Our Score
(11/2016) Vintage grower Champagne for under $50? Yes! This delicious Blanc de Blancs is a real standout. Sourced from east facing Premier Cru vines grown in pure chalk soils, this 100% Chardonnay bottling is intensely mineral-driven yet also quite generous and sexy. Aged for five years on the lees, it is full and plush with excellent flavors of almond butter, matcha infused honey, ripe citrus and yellow flowers. This is a beautiful Champagne with outstanding complexity. Disgorged 12/2/2015.

Ledge Vineyards "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah 2014

95 Wine Advocate
94 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(6/2016) "Vivid magenta. An explosively perfumed, complex bouquet displays intense boysenberry, cherry liqueur, licorice, allspice and sandalwood scents, while a smoky mineral topnote gains strength with air. Completely stains the palate with sweet black and blue fruit, spicecake and candied lavender flavors that show impressive litheness for their heft. Smooth, slow-building tannins shape the finish, which hangs on with outstanding, floral-driven persistence. Drinking window: 2020 - 2027."

Titus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

93+ Our Score
(11/2016) Chappellet winemaker Phillip Titus makes wine from grapes farmed by his brother, Eric Titus. Together, they've created one seriously delicious Napa Cabernet. In fact, the Titus Brothers believe 2014 is even better than the heralded 2012 and 2013 vintages! Oak and ripe fruit sweetness lead the way, with the power of the wine on full display. This is NOT a soft and dainty bottle of Cabernet! This blend of 82% Cabernet, 7% Malbec, 6.5% Petit Verdot and 4.5% Merlot was aged in French, Hungarian and American Oak barrels, 45% of which were new. Drink now or age for another 10+ years. Napa drinkers will love this!

Jax Vineyards Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

93 Our Score
93 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a larger cuvée of 998 cases. A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, it is another intriguing Napa value and a sleeper as well. Deep purple in color, with loads of crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, the wine is rich, dense, multi-layered, long and pure. This is super and a great value. Drink it over the next 12-15 years."

Ledge Vineyards "Dusi Ranch" Paso Robles Zinfandel 2014

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2016) "Dark purple. Heady, smoke- and spice-accented aromas of blackberry and cherry liqueur and incense take on a hint of Indian spices as the wine opens up. Lush and expansive in the mouth, offering palate-staining black and blue fruit preserve and fruitcake flavors that are lifted and sharpened by a vibrant mineral element. Becomes spicier and more energetic with air and finishes extremely long and smooth; velvety tannins lend gentle grip. Drinking window: 2019 - 2025."

Bodegas Mendel "Unus" Mendoza Red Blend 2012

95 James Suckling
93 Wine Advocate
93 Wine Enthusiast
(2/1/2015) "Editors' Choice - With oak-driven aromas of mocha, coffee, cedar and berry fruits, this blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot is effusive on the nose. Concentrated and huge, but well balanced, it offers high-volume berry, herb, chocolate and spice flavors-the lynchpins of excellent wines. Spicy, long and elegant on the finish, this is the real deal. Drink through 2021."
