Roberto Voerzio "La Serra" Barolo 2008

95 Wine Spectator
96+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(4/2012). "The 2008 Barolo La Serra emerges from the glass with dark red fruit, tar, smoke, licorice, spices and new leather. Today the 2008 comes across as surprisingly dark and masculine. The high-toned floral notes that are typical of this site have been replaced by a much darker, brooding register filled with tar, incense and black fruit notes. The wine freshens up beautifully with time in the glass as the aromatics become a bit more expressive. Voerzio's 2008 La Serra is a huge and hugely promising wine. The firm tannins argue for at least a few more years in bottle. A hint of rose petal lingers on the intese finish."

Brovia "Rocche di Castiglione" Barolo 2011

95 Our Score
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2015) "The 2011 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is sweet, floral and wonderfully expressive, all Brovia signatures. Silky tannins provide the backdrop as this sensual, polished Barolo shows off its class. Perfumed notes are woven throughout, but it is the wine's exceptional textural finesse that stands out most. Hints of hard candy, mint, cinnamon and succulent red cherries add the final shades of dimension. In 2011, the Rocche stands out for its total sense of class. Drinking window 2018 - 2036."

Elio Grasso "Gavarina Vigna Chiniera" Barolo 2011

94 James Suckling
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2014) "Grasso's 2011 Barolo Gavarini Vigna Chiniera captures the essence and personality of the year in its inviting, radiant personality. Bright red stone fruits, crushed rocks, pine, mint and flowers are all lifted and aromatically expressive in the glass. The Gavarini is already quite open and inviting. I imagine it will offer a wide window of pure drinking pleasure over the next 20 years or so. This is a striking Barolo from the Grasso family."

Brovia "Brea Vigna Ca' Mia" Barolo 2011

95 Our Score
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2015) "Lavender, mint, sage, smoke, tobacco and plums are all laced together in the 2011 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca'Mia. As always, the Ca'Mia is a decidedly vertical Barolo built on a spine of persistent tannin, but in 2011 there is a little bit of added polish that serves to soften the contours. Tucked off the main road, Brea remains one of the least well-known vineyards in Serralunga. The 2011 is a great wine to start exploring some of the nuances of this site. A huge finish that brings together power and voluptuousness captures the pure radiance of the year. Drinking window 2019 - 2036."

G. D. Vajra "Bricco Delle Viole" Barolo 2012

94 Our Score
94 Wine Spectator
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2015) "The 2012 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is pure class. A decidedly sensual, inviting Bricco delle Viole, the 2012 fleshes out in the glass with an effortless, inviting personality that is impossible to resist. Deep red cherry and plum notes open up first, followed by the classic floral notes that are so typical of this site. In 2012, the Bricco delle Viole is quite forward and fruit-driven, with essentially none of the angular contours that are typical when the wine is young. All of that means the 2012 will deliver immense pleasure pretty much upon release. There is so much to like here. The only real question is whether the 2012 will shut down in bottle or not. This is another addictively delicious Barolo from the Vajra family. Drinking window: 2020 - 2037."

Ettore Germano "Cerretta" Barolo 2009

94 Wine Advocate
92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
92 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
93 Wine Enthusiast
(9/1/2013) "Located in the village of Serralunga, this is an estate to watch. The firm's Cerretta Barolo has a classic fragrance of rose and violet, with earthy notes of truffle and mushroom. The palate delivers ripe, delicious black cherry, white pepper and licorice, and big but round tannins. Reflecting the forward nature of the vintage, it's enjoyable now but will improve over the next few years."

Schiavenza "Prapo" Barolo 2011

95 Wine Spectator
(2/29/2016) "Sweet cherry and plum notes are complemented by licorice, leather, tar and tobacco flavors in this muscular, beefy red, which is balanced, with a long aftertaste that emphasizes its savory, briary side. Best from 2019 through 2033. 275 cases made."

Fratelli Alessandria "San Lorenzo" Barolo 2011

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2015) "A crystalline wine for the year, the 2011 Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno is built on precision, nuance and delineation, all qualities that are rare for the vintage. Medium in body, but with superb persistence on the palate, the 2011 will appeal most to readers who appreciate tightly wound, focused Barolos. In some years, San Lorenzo is a bit more virile, but in 2011 the more feminine side of this site comes through. Rose petal, cinnamon and sweet red berries linger on the understated finish. With time in the glass, the 2011 puts on a little more weight, but readers should expect a restrained expression of San Lorenzo in this vintage."

A e G Fantino "Cascina Dardi Bussia" Barolo 2010

93 Our Score
93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
94 Wine Advocate
(7/2014) "The 2010 Barolo Cascina Dardi Bussia hits all the right marks with a beautiful sense of elegance and grace that is immediately apparent. The aromas dangle in front of you, delicately and seductively, with ethereal layers of spice, blue flower, almond paste, anisette and dried cherry or wild berry. The workmanship here reflects an attention to the minute details offered by Nebbiolo. The tannins are silky and long with deeply polished texture. Barolo Cascina Dardi Bussia is a fine, poised and super-confident expression. Drink: 2016-2026."
