(2/2015) "(made with whole clusters, no sulfur, no fining and no filtration): Light, bright red. Earth- and pepper-accented redcurrant and strawberry aromas, with hints of rhubarb and musky herbs and faint volatility. Tangy and sharply focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and slightly tart red fruits that gain sweetness with air. Finishes taut and spicy, with good cut and no obvious tannins. Distinctly old school and on the raw side, but not without its charms, especially if you're a fan of funky wines. The fruit for this wine is sourced from a vineyard that's leased from the family of the legendary Jules Chauvet, an enology professor and writer whose work was the inspiration for Marcel Lapierre, Jean Thévenet, Jean Foillard, Guy Breton and a host of other vignerons in Beaujolais and, now, across the globe. His influence is practically immeasurable, in fact, as he is a demigod of the natural wine movement."

(10/2016) "Vivid red. Pungent aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry licorice and mocha carry a smoky mineral topnote. Pliant dark fruit flavors and hints of rose pastille and bitter chocolate, along with a jolt of cracked pepper that adds backend cut. Finishes broad, smooth and quite long, revealing no rough edges and a lingering suggestion of sappy dark berries. This wine consistently delivers great value and punches well above its weight."
