Saint Jean du Barroux "Le Pierre Noire" Ventoux Rouge 2009

94+ Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "One of the top estates in the Ventoux, Saint Jean du Barroux is run by the talented Philippe Gimel, who studied under Christophe and Isabel Sabon at Domaine de la Janasse. More expansive and voluptuous [than their , the 2009 Cotes du Ventoux La Pierre Noir (85% Grenache and 15% Syrah) offers a slightly darker profile, with blackberry, ground pepper, forest floor, mineral and licorice all emerging from the glass. Full-bodied, rich and textured, it has smoking level of fruit, yet backs it up with masses of finely polished tannin that are only partially concealed by the fruit. Enjoy this beauty over the coming 5-6 years, although I'd put money on it lasting quite a bit longer."

Chateau Pesquie "Cuvee des Terrasses" Cotes du Ventoux Rouge 2014

90 Our Score
91 Wine Advocate
(1/2016) "Always a terrific value, the 2014 Ventoux Terrasses is no exception and offers complex, classic southern Rhone notes of dried garrigue, pepper, spice-box, licorice and sweet cherry fruit. These carry to a medium to full-bodied, elegant and balanced red that gains depth and richness with time in the glass, has loads Provencal character and a great finish. Made from a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah that was aged in tank and old barrels, it can last for 7-8 years (I know as I just finished a case of the '05, which was still going strong at age 10.)"

Chateau Juvenal "Jolie" Ventoux Rouge 2015

Don't let the bargain price fool you, this powerful, dense and totally delicious blend of old vine Grenache (70%) and Syrah (30%) from the outstanding 2015 vintage delivers serious heft and incredible flavor!
90 Our Score
(12/2016) Sourced from organically farmed, hand-harvested, mature vines in the Ventoux appellation (not far from Châteauneuf-du-Pape), this bottling from Château Juvenal has a very big mouthfeel and deep red and black fruit flavors. Vanilla, smoke, cocoa and green herb notes are supported by a youthful juiciness, a gritty but plush texture, and a long, fresh finish. On the Vin Chicago yum-o-meter, this one spikes much higher than you'd ever expect!
