Chateau Joanin Becot Castillon Cotes De Bordeaux 2012

90 Wine Advocate
91 Wine Enthusiast
91 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(7/2015) "The 2012 Joanin Bécot is dark, open and quite seductive. Black cherry, plum, spice and leather all meld together in a very pretty, gracious wine with soft contours to drink now and over the next handful of years. The 2012 is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Jean-Philippe Fort is the consulting winemaker. This is a gorgeous wine that delivers superb quality as well as value. Drinking window: 2016 - 2024."

Chateau Puygueraud Francs Cotes de Bordeaux 2009

92 James Suckling
90 Wine Advocate
(12/22/2011) "This blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec is from the Thienpont family. (Puygueraud is the estate where this large clan was born.) The 2009 is impressive, but the estate somewhat under-the-radar, since it is hard to pronounce and not exactly a household name. This is a beautifully fleshy wine with loads of licorice, spring flowers, graphite and black fruits. Fleshier and more concentrated than usual, with a longer, more intense finish and plenty of glycerin, this dark ruby/purple wine is a knock-out and, in theory, an attractive great value. It should drink well for up to a decade."

Chateau La Prade Francs Cotes de Bordeaux 2014

91 James Suckling
90 Wine Spectator
90 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(2/2017) "The 2014 La Prade is absolutely delicious. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, chocolate, tobacco and spice are pushed forward in a tasty Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend to drink now and over the next few years. Time has helped the 2014 come together very nicely. This is yet another strong 2014 from Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont. The blend is 90 % Merlot and 10 % Cabernet Franc. Drink 2017 - 2024."

Chateau Haut Bourcier Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux 2012

89 Our Score
(6/2015) The Blaye district, a part of the greater Cotes-de-Bordeaux, lies East, just across the Gironde Estuary, from the Medoc on Bordeaux's "Right Bank". Offering amazing value for a drinkable Bordeaux, here you will not find the heavy extraction and ultra-ripe winemaking style that some modernist vignerons have become enamored with. Composed of mostly Merlot with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon for added structure, you're met with a melange of red and dark fruit on a soft, rich, medium to full-bodied palate. It is balanced by a subtle streak of earthiness to remind you that you're drinking an honest Bordeaux.
