Arterberry Maresh "Maresh Vineyard" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2014

95 Wine Advocate
(6/2016) "The 2014 Maresh Vineyard Pinot Noir has a beautiful bouquet with wonderful precision. The vine age does show through here (44-years-old now) with crisp detailed red berry fruit that just exudes Pinoté. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very well-judged acidity, touches of truffle and undergrowth tincturing the red berry fruit that fans out wonderfully towards the long and satisfying finish. This is a great Pinot Noir from an estate that seems to have thrived in 2014. Drink: 2018 - 2035."

(6/2016) A very cool story of a great Pinot Noir with a Chicago area connection. Tom Fitzpatrick is a UC Davis educated winemaker who has been working for over 15 years in Burgundy, Oregon, New Zealand and Napa Valley. Born and raised in Chicago's western suburbs, Tom is a graduate of Buffalo Grove high school. He and his wife France, whose roots are from Chicago and the south suburbs, purchased a special site in the Dundee Hills back in 2008 from Gary Andrus. An elegant and graceful wine, it leads off with very pretty aromas of baking spice and raspberry. After breathing for a few minutes, look for woodsy aromas to join in the chorus. Medium in body, its youthful tannins shed rather quickly allowing for a wonderfully silky finish. An excellent Pinot Noir.

Beckham "Amphora" Dundee Hills Pinot Gris 2014

Winemakers Notes
"The A.D. Beckham wines are a convergence of two passions- ceramics and wine. The terra cotta amphorae used to make these wines are handcrafted in Andrew's studio on our vineyard. This wine was fermented on skins for 30 days in terra cotta, partially aged in terra cotta and Acacia barrels. This pinot gris looks like a Rosé. It's wonderfully fragrant, with a nose of baking spices, then ripe peaches. The palate is pomegranate with a mineral-like texture.. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Only 97 cases made. Dinking window: now through 2020."

Arterberry Maresh "Weber Vineyard" Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2014

93 Wine Advocate
(6/2016) "The 2014 Pinot Noir Weber Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1983. It has a very refined bouquet with red cherry, wild strawberry, sous-bois and subtle floral notes - very complex and classy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, nicely structured with a gentle grip. The fruit veers towards the darker side of the spectrum towards the finish, with blackberry and cranberry fruit, long and edgy. Classy, composed and cool, this is how to make world-class Pinot Noir. Drink: 2017 - 2030."

Arterberry Maresh Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2013

90+ Our Score
91 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(10/2015) "Bright red. Aromas of cherry pit and dark berry skin, with exotic Indian spice and woodsmoke notes adding complexity. Juicy, concentrated and smooth, offering gently sweet, palate-caressing blackberry and rose pastille flavors that show good depth and power for the year. Finishes smooth, sappy and long, with dusty tannins coming in slowly to add grip. A big success for an entry-level bottling from this vintage."

Teutonic Wine Company "Maresh Vineyards" Dundee Hills Pinot Gris 2014

91 Our Score
88 Wine Advocate
(4/2016) "The 2014 Pinot Gris Maresh Vineyard has a fresh pear and peach skin scented bouquet with light granitic undertones, and then later a lovely touch of marzipan coming through. The palate is well balanced with good weight on the entry. It is phenolic compared to other Pinot Gris that I tasted, slightly pithy in the mouth, though I was seeking more complexity and tension to furnish the finish and match the superb aromatics. Still, that might develop with another 12 months in bottle, so hold off drinking for a few months. In last year's report, I echoed the sentiments of David Schildknecht in his admiration for Teutonic's distinctive wines, apart from their fantastical designs of their labels. It was great to meet Barnaby Tuttle at their recently opened tasting room - my first visit during my stint in Oregon, where I tasted the recent crop of releases. "Going into 2014, it was exceptionally warm and I was afraid because our style is acid-driven and I never add water or chaptalise," he explained. "There was a moment when I thought we would have to add water, but we had great conversion rates that saved our butt! In 2015, I was not so freaked out. All wines are neutral oak, but somehow they have a Popsicle note on the finish. I cannot understand where that come from." Maybe the wines were a little more up and down than I had been anticipating, then again, these wines are designed to reflect the growing season. The Pinot Noir from the Alsea Vineyard is certainly great terroir, and a vertical demonstrated its propensity to hit a sweet spot 5-6 years after bottling."
