Wonderwall "Spanish Springs Vineyard" Edna Valley Pinot Noir 2013

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail on this Magnum - $38.99!
90+ Our Score
(6/2014) For those of you not familiar, Wonderwall is a project of viticulturist Andrew Jones. Having worked the Central Coast for over a decade in his day job at a vine nursery, Andrew knows just about every grape grower and he knows where to find the good fruit! The previous vintage was a blend from Agro-Jalisco and Spanish Springs vineyards. For 2013, Andrew has made Wonderwall a single-vineyard Pinot, sourcing entirely from Spanish Springs Vineyard in Edna Valley! Upfront and forward, the 2013 Wonderwall leads off with fresh and delicious flavors of deep black cherry, boysenberry and just-picked strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied, round and very lush with subtle baking spice nuances seasoning the fruit on the long finish.

Land of Saints Edna Valley Nebbiolo 2014

Nebbiolo from California's Edna Valley? You bet, and it's delicious!
90 Our Score
(7/2017) Land of Saints wine company is a new project from Angela Osborne (A Tribute To Grace) and her husband Jason. Using their established relationships, they are making some incredible value wines sourced from organically grown varietals. This single vineyard Nebbiolo is sourced from the famed Morro View vineyard in Edna Valley, a site Angela uses for her Grenache for her own label. Do not expect the ripping high acid and tannins found in Barolo. This one is soft and round with plenty of bright acid to keep the high-toned red fruits fresh and bright. Only 75 cases were produced of this unique, off the beaten path red.

Baileyana "Firepeak" Edna Valley Chardonnay 2014

90 Our Score
93 Wine Enthusiast
(3/2017) "Burgundy-raised vintner Christian Roguenant gets to show his stuff in this line of Firepeak wines. Wet cement, honeysuckle, crisp Asian pear and the slightest hints of tropicality show on the nose, while the palate offers yellow grapefruit, lemon skins, squeezed lime and lime-blossom flavors, wrapped around nervy tension."

Talley Vineyards "Bishop's Peak" Edna Valley Chardonnay 2015

A deliciously fruit-driven Chardonnay for an extremely good price.
90 Our Score
90 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2016) "Pale gold. Meyer lemon, quince, white flowers and smoky minerals on the lively, incisive nose. Nervy citrus and orchard fruit flavors show very good clarity and a complementary subtle honeysuckle quality. Juicy and precise on the clinging finish, which strongly echoes the mineral and floral notes."

Alloy Wine Works "Hans Gruner" Edna Valley Gruner Veltliner 2016

89+ Our Score
(5/2017) Our friend Andrew Jones has simply outdone himself with this awesome white wine in a 375ml can. It is Gruner Veltliner from Edna Valley's famous Paragon Vineyard. The can is labeled "Hans Gruner," a play on Die Hard's infamous villain Hans Gruber! This fun can is complete with a movie-inspired quote and a fun pic of Hans; but make no mistake, the wine inside is seriously legit. Sure, you may want to pound it from the can, but if you pour it into a glass you really experience the gorgeous aromatic notes of fresh pear, citrus zest, and a touch of grapefruit pith with loads of white flowers, minerality, and Gru-V's classic white pepper. Very few cases were produced, so grab these collector cans before they're gone!
