Domaine Leon Barral "Jadis" Faugeres 2009

93 Our Score
Made from hand-harvested 30-60 year old biodynamically farmed grapes, the Jadis is a serious wine that impresses with its distinctive savory, earth-driven tones and complex fruit and floral flavors. A blend of 50% Carignan, 30% Syrah and 20% Grenache, all of which are grown in schist soil, it is weighty and elegant with a velvety mouthfeel and a chewy tannin structure. While it is made for the cellar, drinking it now is quite enjoyable. Just make sure to allow at least a few hours in a decanter. From importer Kermit Lynch.

Domaine Leon Barral Faugeres Rouge 2011

93 Wine Advocate
(4/2015) "The classic 2011 Faugères offers awesome complexity in its black cherry and currant-like fruit, saddle leather, licorice and cured meat-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, rich, textured and voluptuous, this puppy is overflowing with character and will have 10-12 years of longevity."

Domaine Frederic Brouca "Champs Pentus" Faugeres 2014

90-91 Our Score
(2/2017) This single-vineyard blend of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache offers a perfect combination of balance and power. Rich dark fruit and savory roasted meat notes pop from the glass. The flavors are vibrant with a brooding symphony of red, blue and black fruit, peppery spice and a long, clean finish. Pair with hearty winter stews, grilled lamb chops or enjoy on its own in front of a cozy fire after a long day at work.
