Domaine Humbert Freres "Vieilles Vignes" Fixin 2013

92+ Our Score
(1/2016) Brothers Emmanuel and Frédéric Humbert are the fourth generation winemakers of this up-andcoming family estate located in Gevrey-Chambertin, near the estate of their cousin, Bernard Dugat. The quality is evident in this old vine Pinot Noir. Layers of smoke, macerated cherry, spice, cranberry, herb and mushroom are backed by a round palate and just enough tannins to make you take notice. Super food friendly. Ideal pairings include herbed roast chicken or duck and beef tenderloin.

Domaine Collotte Fixin 2013

91 Our Score
(11/2016) Though Philippe Collotte is best known for Marsannay, it is this Pinot Noir from the neighboring Côtes de Nuits village of Fixin that caught our attention. Imported by Peter Weygandt, this Burgundy is an excellent value, giving lovely floral top notes, delicious and pure red fruits and a touch of sweet oak in the middle and finish. Richer and weightier than the vintage reports would suggest, this wine is drinkable now and over the next 5-7 years.
