Chanson Givry 2013

90 Our Score
90 Wine Spectator
(2016) "Juicy red cherry, currant and strawberry fruit flavors pave the way in this enticing red. There's plenty of structure underneath, with hints of black pepper and earth on the finish. Best from 2017 through 2026. 300 cases imported."

Domaine Danjean-Berthoux "Meix Au Roi" Givry 2013

Hot price on this tasty red Burgundy! Compare at $20-25.

(11/2016) Wow, what a find! Don't let the price fool you. This is a solid Pinot Noir. Pascal Danjean's estate is located in Givry, a quiet village in the Côte Chalonnaise district of Burgundy. He makes quality Pinot Noir, including this "Meix Au Roi" (House of the King) bottling. Neither fined nor filtered, the wine shows a deeper color than expected. Dark cherry, fleshy strawberry, cranberry and red floral notes give pleasure while the nervy structure lets you know you're drinking Burgundy. A tremendous value.

Domaine Danjean-Berthoux "Meix Au Roi" Givry 2014

90 Our Score
(3/2017) This 2014 is a worthy successor to the well-received 2013. Once again, we must stress how rare it is to find a quality red Burgundy at this price. With a bright ruby color and light concentration, this Pinot Noir reveals flavors of truffle, organic earth and black and red cherry, along with a nicely taut finish. Perfect with grilled salmon and just about any other medium-bodied fare.
