Terrazas de los Andes "Las Compuertas" Lujan de Cuyo Mendoza Malbec 2011

97 James Suckling
(6/11/2014) "There is a clarity and purity to this malbec with dark berries, pepper, rose petal, violets. Even cloves. Full body, with wonderfully fine tannins and a polished and beautiful finish. It lasts for minutes on the finish. Such precision. Better in 2016 but so gorgeous now."

A powerful and hugely pleasing bottling from the legendary Paul Hobbs. One of the best Malbecs we have ever tasted.

(2/2015) "Bright, full ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, licorice, dark chocolate and sweet oak spices are lifted by a violet topnote. Creamy and subtly sweet, with high-class oak and nicely integrated acidity giving shape to the flavors of black raspberry, currant and dark chocolate. This very glossy wine finishes with fine-grained tannins and lovely persistence. Balanced from day one but has the density to evolve slowly and positively in bottle. Drinking window 2017 - 2023"

Dona Paula "Black Edition" Lujan de Cuyo Red Wine 2013

(3/2016) The 2013 Black Edition from Doña Paula is a blend of 60% Malbec, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. Dark, concentrated and intense, it offers fruit flavors of black cherry, plum and blackberry that push the envelope of ripeness to the line, but not over. Ten months in oak adds spice and softness. The palate is full-bodied with medium tannins that would pair well with a juicy burger. A great follow-up bottling to the ever-so-popular 2012.
