O'Shaughnessy Mt Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

97 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
96 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2015) "The blockbuster 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and 100% from Mt. Veeder. This is magnificent, with blue and black fruits galore, a dense, opaque purple color, and notes of creamy oak interwoven with enormous quantities of highly extracted fruit and velvety tannins in a voluptuously textured, multi-layered stunner. This wine still shows plenty of grip and tannin, so give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 30 years. This is a big-time winner."

Mayacamas Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

95+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(9/2015) "Graphite, smoke, licorice, game, savory herbs and a host of inky blue/blackish stone fruits make an appearance in the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. Beautifully layered and intense, the 2010 offers a compelling interplay of finesse and power. Still, my sense is that the 2010 is holding back much of its potential. Readers need to be patient, but the 2010 is shaping up to be a gem."

Mt Brave Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

92 Wine Advocate
92 Wine Spectator
92+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2014) "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder is the most overt and structured of these wines from Mt. Brave. Dark red and black stone fruits, spices, menthol, leather and cedar meld together in the glass. Powerful and ample in the glass, the 2012 possesses remarkable intensity. Big, chewy tannins support the ample finish. Today the tannins are a bit more dominant than the fruit, but the 2012 should find a bit better balance with more time in bottle. Dollops of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec round out the blend. This is the first vintage in which Malbec has been included. Drinking Window: 2015 - 2024."

Meadowcroft Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

92 Our Score
(10/2016) We were beyond delighted with this small-production Cabernet from Meadowcroft. An enticing nose of dark berries, cassis, baking spice, bramble and mocha invites you in. The round, grippy palate and ridiculously long finish seal the deal. Only 103 cases were produced of this enchanting wine, which spent 38 months in Hungarian and Alain Fouguet French oak. $85 at the winery

The Hess Collection Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

We loved the 2012 vintage. Now we're on to the 2013 and it's even better!
94 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "Another sensational effort and probably one of the best wines to emerge from Hess in the last 30 years is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Mt. Veeder, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Malbec. This is sensational wine with fabulous aromatics of white flowers, licorice, roasted coffee, blueberry and black raspberry liqueur, with pen ink and graphite making an appearance. It is a full-bodied, rich and a compelling effort from Hess."

90+ Cellars "Lot 136" Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

92 Our Score
(12/2016) Sourced from the incredible vineyards of Mount Veeder, Lot 136 is an amazing buy from Napa Valley. Packed with black fruits, cocoa powder and smoky spice, there is an elegance here that belies the modest price. It begs for a grilled ribeye steak but would be just as wonderful all by itself in front of the fireplace on a quiet winter night. Drink this one now and over the next 15 years.
