Booker Vineyards "Oubile" Paso Robles Red Blend 2013

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $77.99!
94 Wine Advocate
(8/2015) "The ruby/semi-opaque colored 2013 Oublie is a sensational blend of 46% Grenache, 34% Mourvedre and 20% Counoise that offers a seamless, layered and complex array of blueberry, black raspberry, dried flowers, vanilla bean and spice on the nose. Pure silk on the palate, with full-bodied richness and no hard edges, this impeccably balanced red has a full, layered mid-palate, sweet tannin and a terrific finish. One of those wines where the bottle's empty before you know it, drink this beauty over the coming 5-8 years. Drink: 2015 - 2023"

Ledge Vineyards "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah 2014

95 Wine Advocate
94 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(6/2016) "Vivid magenta. An explosively perfumed, complex bouquet displays intense boysenberry, cherry liqueur, licorice, allspice and sandalwood scents, while a smoky mineral topnote gains strength with air. Completely stains the palate with sweet black and blue fruit, spicecake and candied lavender flavors that show impressive litheness for their heft. Smooth, slow-building tannins shape the finish, which hangs on with outstanding, floral-driven persistence. Drinking window: 2020 - 2027."

Turley "Pesenti Vineyard" Paso Robles Zinfandel 2014

96 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2016) "From the pure white soils/limestone terroir emerges the 2014 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard (15.8% alcohol). This is a warm area, but with cold soils, and the result is one of the great classics of Zinfandel from the Central Coast. The intensity of flavor, the colossal richness and the full-bodied power are totally concealed beneath a cascade of fruit. This multidimensional wine reveals gorgeous minerality, loads of black and red fruits, and even a hint of spring flowers. This is a stunner that is layered, extremely long, pure and heady. Drink it over the next decade. The Pesenti Vineyard was planted in the 1920s."

94 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(5/2014) "(80% grenache, 10% mourvedre, 5% carignane and 5% syrah): Bright violet color. Dark fruit preserves, cherry-cola, five-spice powder and potpourri on the exotically perfumed nose. Lush and expansive on the palate, offering appealingly sweet black raspberry, cherry compote and lavender flavors that are lifted and sharpened by juicy acidity. Suave, round and broad on a strikingly persistent finish that features fine-grained tannins and lingering berry and floral qualities."

Ledge Vineyards "Dusi Ranch" Paso Robles Zinfandel 2014

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2016) "Dark purple. Heady, smoke- and spice-accented aromas of blackberry and cherry liqueur and incense take on a hint of Indian spices as the wine opens up. Lush and expansive in the mouth, offering palate-staining black and blue fruit preserve and fruitcake flavors that are lifted and sharpened by a vibrant mineral element. Becomes spicier and more energetic with air and finishes extremely long and smooth; velvety tannins lend gentle grip. Drinking window: 2019 - 2025."

Desparada "Soothsayer" Paso Robles Red Blend 2014

92 Our Score
(5/2017) Desparada is the wine label of Vaila From (formerly Esh, but she recently married Russel From, winemaker and owner of Herman Story). She produced only 96 cases of this unique red called "Soothsayer," a ridiculously delicious blend from two single vineyards in Paso Robles of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon (Pine Hawk vineyard) and 25% Nebbiolo (Luna Matta vineyard). It tastes like a California Cabernet and an Italian Barbaresco met in Vegas and had a love child. The Nebbiolo really shines through on the nose providing aromatic lift. The palate is rich and concentrated with flavors of cherry, black berry and raspberry. The wine is full-bodied and powerful, with plenty of grip from the tannins, but Nebbiolo's characteristic bright acidity keep things fresh and lively. Grill up your meat of choice, pour a glass of this beauty, and let your troubles melt away.

Halcyon Paso Robles Cabernet Franc 2015

91 Our Score
(2/2017) This 2015 Cabernet Franc, from husband and wife duo Tyler and Kim Elwell, is only their second release and a mere 150 cases were produced. About 12 of those made it to Illinois, so needless to say, this stuff is hard to find! The fruit comes from a small single vineyard in the Templeton Gap AVA of Paso Robles. This area is buffeted by maritime winds and the temperature is typically 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the rest of Paso. There is a distinct nod to the Loire Valley in its earthier components, but the heart and soul of this wine is pure California fruit and sunshine. Slightly lighter bodied than their inaugural release, this vintage checks in at only 11.9% ABV. Peppery and herbaceous notes scream cool climate Cab Franc. These flavors, coupled with precise red fruits and high acid, come together to make this a delicately knitted beauty.Jump on this while we have it because once it makes some friends, it will not last long!

Ridge "Benito Dusi Ranch" Paso Robles Zinfandel 2014

Benito Dusi's Ranch is an awesome Zinfandel hotbed, and it is the only vineyard in the Central Coast that Ridge sources grapes from, and has for 50 years - so you KNOW it's going to be great. 100% varietal Zinfandel.
Winemakers Notes
Deep ruby. Black cherry, stewed plum, exotic barrel spice. Ripe bramble on entry, firm acid, gravelly mineral, medium-full body, round tannins, integrated oak finish. Ripe fruit, exotic spice, and elegant tannins give it immediate appeal, and it will be at its best over the next five to seven years.

Daou Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Check out our incredible deal compared to the $35 Wine Advocate reference price! We've been long-time Daou fans and we think it is exactly the kind of drink-me-now Cab that our customers love and is a Paso Robles specialty.
90 Wine Advocate
91 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2016) "Youthful purple. Ripe, spice-accented cherry, dark berries and candied flowers on the deeply scented nose and in the mouth. Silky and open-knit; a building peppery element adds vivacity to sweet blueberry and cherry flavors. Bitter chocolate and allspice notes come up on the clinging finish, which is shaped by smooth tannins. In the context of California Cabernet, this wine delivers fantastic value."
