Chateau Pontet-Canet Pauillac, Bordeaux 2009

100 Wine Advocate
"An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically - a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). This vineyard, which is situated on the high plateau of Pauillac adjacent to Mouton Rothschild, appears to have done everything perfectly in 2009. This cuvee should shut down in the cellar and re-open in a decade or more. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2075." (France)

Chateau Pichon Lalande Pauillac 2009

96 James Suckling
95 Wine Advocate
(2/2012) "A beautiful effort, the 2009 Pichon Lalande, a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, possesses copious mocha, lead pencil, unsmoked, high class tobacco, black currant, forest floor and herbaceous characteristics. It is a deep purple-hued, charming, surprisingly open-knit Pauillac with wonderful freshness, a plump, fleshy mouthfeel, opulence and unctuosity, medium to full body and a well-delineated, luscious style. More elegant than its nearby neighbor, Pichon Longueville Baron, and not as massive in concentration and extract, it is one of the great Pichon Lalandes of the last twenty years."

Chateau Pontet-Canet Pauillac 2012

(4/2015) "This impeccably run, biodynamically farmed estate of Alfred Tesseron goes from strength to strength. The 2012 triumphs once again with its notes of dark plum, blackcurrant, licorice and almost a hint of truffle, its full-bodied, supple tannins, and beautiful, expensive mouthfeel. Complex and deep, this dense ruby/purple-colored wine may not be at the level of the 2009 or 2010, but it is a successful wine in this vintage, and a significant wine in 2012. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2035."

Chateau Behere Pauillac Bordeaux 2010

We anticipate you'll be seeing a lot more of this 'Cru Artisan' Pauillac in the coming years. This Chateau sits next-door to Mouton-Rothschild and all its plots are adjacent to classified growths. Its vines were recently purchased by Jacky Lorenzetti, owner of Lillian Ladouys, Pedesclaux, and 50% owner of Chateau d'Issan. This was a multi-year bidding war that included at least one first-growth property. This was an absolute star at a recent special tasting event, classic Pauillac - this has the balance to age but with the light-handed nature in the cellar to be approachable today with aeration.
