Chateau Montrose St. Estephe 2014

(2/2017) "The 2014 Montrose is without question one of the standout wines of the vintage. Black cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and lavender are some of the many aromas and flavors that open up in the glass. But the 2014 is a much deeper wine than just a bunch of descriptors can conjure. In 2014, Montrose is a wine of exceptional finesse and polish. The late-ripening vintage allowed for perfect maturation of the tannins and resulted in a silky wine that exudes class and pedigree. The 2014 is not an obvious or bombastic Montrose, but rather a wine of sublime enchantment. Don't miss it! Drinking window: 2024 - 2054."

Chateau Cos d'Estournel Saint Estephe 2008

92 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
95 Wine Enthusiast
93 James Suckling
92+ Wine Advocate
(5/2011) "Closed but promising, this is a classic Cos revealing lots of tannin along with damp earth, black currant, sweet black cherry, graphite, licorice and truffle characteristics. This medium to full-bodied, structured, firm, broodingly backward, impenetrable effort demands 5-6 years of bottle age; it should drink well for 20-25 years."

Chateau La Peyre "R" Saint Estephe Rouge 2010

We're down to our last ten cases of this classic, under-the-radar, Neal Rosenthal-imported beauty!
94 Our Score
(10/2016) The wine is a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. While it sees a small percentage of new oak, most of the juice is raised in older barrels - in keeping with the estate's traditional philosophy of limited human intervention during the winemaking process. Classic Bordeaux flavors of cassis, blackberry and plum are supported by subtle red floral nuances along with black pepper, rosemary, tobacco and cedar. The complexity of flavor and integration of tannin and structure are top flight here. Neighboring properties, like the 100-point, Super-Second Chateau Montrose, sell for well over $200 this vintage!

Chateau Tour des Termes St. Estephe 2009

89 Wine Spectator
(3/2012) "A fresh, lively style, with a hint of anise on the edges of the sappy damson plum and cherry pit notes. A mix of currant and pomegranate are backed by briar on the finish. This should be a solid buy for mid-term cellaring. Best from 2013 through 2022. 8,500 cases made."
