Jaffurs "Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Barbara County Syrah 2013

95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
95 Wine Advocate
(8/2016) "Blackberries, crushed rocks, peppery herbs, violets and hints of salty minerality all emerge from the concentrated, full-bodied, beautifully layered 2013 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard. Aged 22 months in 24% new oak, this sensational Syrah has serious richness, yet never seems heavy, has building, fine tannin and a rocking finish. Hats off to this team for another terrific effort."

Byron "Nielson Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 2013

94 Wine Enthusiast
(9/1/2016) "From the oldest commercial vineyard in Santa Barbara County comes this heady bottling, showing aromas of deep black raspberry, vanilla bean, beef carpaccio, black pepper and sesame oil. Black and white pepper and bay leaf spice up the acid- and mineral-laced palate, where dark but sharply focused fruits of elderberry and boysenberry gain a savory touch from smoked pork."

Liquid Farm "La Hermana" Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay 2013

95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(8/2015) "The 2013 Chardonnay La Hermana is gorgeous. Apricot pit, butter, smoke, spice and almonds meld together in a pliant, beautifully layered Chardonnay built on texture. Distinctive, nuanced and impeccably balanced, the 2013 is pure class. The 2013 is a blend of fruit from three sources; 60% Bien Nacido, 33% Dierberg and 7% Maldonado. Most importantly, though, the 2013 La Hermana is a real stunner."

Dierberg "Dierberg Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 2012

93 Wine Advocate
(8/2014) "The 2012 Pinot Noir Dierberg Vineyard shows the darker side of Pinot with its earthy, forest floor, red and black fruit and spice aromas and flavors. Coming all from sandy loam sois and aged 18 months in 35% new oak, it's beautifully balanced, has solid mid-palate density and a terrific finish. Enjoy it over the coming 4-6 years."

Au Bon Climat "Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay 2012

95 Wine & Spirits
(10/2016) "Jim Clendenen made his first Bien Nacido chardonnay in 1989. He knows his way around the sprawling hillside and benchland vineyard better than just about anyone, and makes this exclusively from K Block, a bench of shale-laced gravelly loam that was planted to own-rooted gewurztraminer in 1973. The block was grafted over to chardonnay in the 1990s, leaving the roots intact, so the grapes continue to benefit from some of the oldest root systems in Santa Barbara County. The wine spent 18 months in new oak barrels, but you'd hardly know it-the intensity of the fruit is the first and last impression, fresh and clean as a breeze through an orchard, suggesting orange blossoms, peach pits and pollen. The wood feels more like the detailing of the wine than the frame, polishing the fruit into a satiny, harmonious form. This is a California chardonnay that will last ten years or more in the cellar-vinous, energetic and deep. (332 cases)"

Cambria "Julia's Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 2013

88+ Our Score
(6/2016) This soft and bright Pinot Noir offers up warm and inviting flavors of cherry, strawberry and raspberry that are garnished with sweet notes of vanilla and baking spices. This great value single-vineyard bottling clearly demonstrates how well Pinot Noir does in the cool climate of the Central Coast's Santa Maria Valley. Soft enough to drink on its own, it will also partner up beautifully with fresh salmon, pork or grilled sausages.

90 Our Score
(4/2016) Formerly labeled as "Katherine's Vineyard," the new "Benchbreak" Chardonnay from Cambria is outstanding. From the foggy, cool climate vineyards of Santa Barbara's Santa Maria Valley, this wonderful California Chardonnay is completely layered with very tasty flavors of white pear, golden delicious apple, pineapple, mango and lemon zest. The texture is soft, creamy and buttery while fresh acidity keeps it bright and lively. Additional notes of hazelnut, candy corn and caramel add to the palate and the finish. Enjoy this tremendous value all on its own or pair it with creamy pastas, butter poached lobster or baked seafood dishes.
