Le Sot de l'Ange "Rouge G" Vin de France Rouge 2015

89 Our Score
(2/2017) Le Sot de l'Ange's "Rouge G" is a playful bottling of Gamay and Grolleau. Bottled without SO2, and done entirely in stainless steel, this wine is all about freshness and purity. The fruit is intensely bright and extremely giving, leading to any number of pairing, or just straight chugging. This is definitely a "Wine of Thirst!"

La Boutanche Pet Nat 2016

89 Our Score
(5/2017) The Bulldog is back! And with a brand new bottling! This is the first ever "Pet Nat" in the Boutanche line and it certainly is worth the wait. Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay from the Loire Valley are blended to create this delightfully playful and seriously thirst quenching dry sparkling wine. There is a touch of green cider to go along with the zesty lemon soda component, with feisty acidity dragging you back for another big slurp. When it comes to daily drinking sparkling wine, this one is hard to pass up.

Marc Plouzeau "Perles Sauvages" Petilllant Naturel Brut NV

89 Our Score
(1/14/2016) Perhaps the oldest form of winemaking, pétillant naturels--or "pet nats" for short--are sparkling wines made with only a single fermentation (Champagne, for instance, goes through a secondary fermentation), relying solely on the sugars contained within the fruit to feed the yeast. Here Marc Plouzeau uses the wild yeasts found on the skins of his organically-grown Chenin Blanc to create this unique quaff. Fresh pears, brioche, and a touch of apple dance across the palate, leading to a rich finish of creamy cheese and almond milk. Light and fun, this wine shines as an off-the-beaten path aperitif.

Clos de la Briderie Touraine-Mesland Rouge 2010

90+ Our Score
Combining 40% Cot (Malbec), 30% Cabernet Franc and 30% Gamay from the village of Mesland, this certified biodynamic wine is honest and full of personality. Grainy, chalky and high pitched in the mouth, with flavors of red fruit, sage, white pepper and cocoa. Perfect for an autumn or early winter pairing with grilled marinated flank steak. A great Loire Valley value.

Marc Plouzeau "Le Devants de la Bonneliere" Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Whether your preference is for a $30 Sancerre or a bottle of Kim Crawford from New Zealand, we think you are going to love this one!
90 Our Score
(1/2016) "We first tasted this wine at the annual New York tasting of importer Peter Weygandt a few months ago. Simply put, we were impressed. Seamlessly joining the intense minerality, herbal tones and high acidity of a Sancerre with the rich fruit flavors of tangerine, grapefruit and lime zest found in a well made new world Sauvignon Blanc, this beautifully combines these two styles in a way we've not found before at this low price point. Friendly enough to drink by itself and structured enough to have with sushi, spicy broth soups or roast chicken, it is a classically fresh, pungent and extremely versatile Sauvignon Blanc. Annual production is a mere 1300 cases!"
