Zorzal "Eggo Filoso" Gualtallary Pinot Noir 2014

92 Wine Advocate
(8/2015) "The 2014 Eggo Filoso Pinot Noir is produced with fruit from Gualtallary. It fermented after carbonic maceration in cement vats and like the whole Eggo line, it matured in cement eggs for some nine months and never saw any oak. Pale-colored, floral and showing a lactic touch, it is earthier than the Gran Terroir. The palate is medium-bodied, with floral flavors, very good acidity and a fine texture. 6,000 bottles produced."

Catena "Appellation Series" Tupungato Chardonnay 2015

92 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "There is one white in the appellation range, the 2015 Appellation Tupungato Chardonnay, which is subtly balsamic and spicy from limestone-rich soils in Tupungato in the Valle de Uco, from two vineyards, in Villa Bastías and La Esmeralda. There are pungent flavors, very good intensity and balance and the chalky sensation is nicely coated by juicy fruit. One for the table."

Via Revolucionaria "Hulk" Mendoza Semillon 2016

92 Wine Advocate
(12/2016) "The sharp and saline 2016 La Vía Revolucionaria Semillon Hulk is a Semillon from Tupungato with only 10% alcohol. The idea was to recover the Semillon variety from Valle de Uco and in 2011 he started making a very fresh wine that in his mind represents the valley. It is more about the soil and the mountains than the variety, keeping the acidity by harvesting very early--usually at the end of January. In 2016 he harvested in late February, yet the wine still has the tension and electricity that it had in 2011--something he hadn't managed to achieve since then. It's bottled unfiltered and is a little cloudy with an austere nose, in a year he considers the best for whites in the Valle de Uco. The palate is light and almost effervescent, with citric acidity. Vía Revolucionaria is sourced from organically-farmed vineyards with natural fermentations and no added sulfur, yet the wines are precise and clean. This is bottled right after the fermentation is finished. This comes from a five-hectare plot that was about to be ripped up. Matías convinced the grower to keep one hectare of Semillon for him, with the grapes at the same price paid for Malbec from Gualtallary, which is significantly higher than the price for Semillon. Electricity in a bottle. 2,600 bottles where bottled in May 2016. Drink Date: 2017 - 2021."

Via Revolucionaria "Bonarda Pura" Mendoza Bonarda 2015

89+ Our Score
(9/2016) Via Revolucionaria is the exciting new side project helmed by Matias Michelini, one of the three brothers behind the famous Zorzal winery. The wines under the Via Revolucionaria label are all about experimenting with lesser utilized local varieties in a hands-off way to fully showcase the diverse terroirs of Tupungato. The wine is 100% Bonarda from 40 year old vines that underwent Carbonic Maceration. The wine is lively and bright, with tantalizingly high acid. The palate is loaded with explosive notes of fresh blueberries and raspberries with a liberal dusting of baking spices, making it play between sweet and savory on the palate. This just might be your new favorite light bodied fall wine.

Zorzal "Terroir Unico" Tupungato Cabernet Franc 2015

90 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(3/2016) "Bright, clear red. Musky aromas of strawberry, raspberry and flinty minerality. A juicy, minerally midweight with enticing saline complexity to its red fruit, earth and smoky mineral flavors. Finishes with sneaky length, firm but pliant tannins and terrific lift. Wonderfully perfumed, light-bodied Cabernet Franc."

La Posta "Fazzio Vineyard" Tupungato Malbec 2014

90 Our Score
90 Wine & Spirits
(2/2016). "Domingo Fazzio planted the vineyards for this wine a decade ago at 3,500 feet in Tupungato, in the Uco Valley. It shows the ripe, voluptuous side of malbec in its sweet black cherry flavors and sweet spice, those characteristics floating on a cushion of soft, round tannins. Ready to enjoy now with mushroom pizza."

Bodega Gouguenheim Tupangato Pinot Noir 2015

88+ Our Score
(4/2016) Very pretty aromas of strawberry and raspberry with a touch of mint. Medium in body with a soft, clean personality. This is real Pinot Noir and, at our price of $11, it's a great value.
