Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2006

91 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(7/2015) "The 2006 Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a an attractive wine to drink now and over the next few years, as the flavors offer gorgeous complexity and nuance. Cedar, tobacco, smoke, worn-in leather and dried cherries are all laced together in the glass in a powerful Valpolicella loaded with class and personality. Firm tannins convey a decidedly old-school sense of structure."

Buglioni "Il Bugiardo" Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso 2012

91+ Our Score
(9/2016) The name "Il Bugiardo" translates as "The Liar." As the story goes, when the first vintage (2000) was released, an experienced sommelier exclaimed, "If this is not Amarone, it is a lying wine!" We understand this reaction. Tasted blind, this beauty would have fooled us, too. It is chock full of black cherry, raisin, bittersweet chocolate and gorgeous exotic spices. With a long, oh-so-satisfying finish, this 2012 Ripasso will appeal to hardcore Italian and Cabernet aficionados alike. For once, we don't mind a lyin' wine!

Allegrini Valpolicella Classico 2014

91 James Suckling
89 Our Score
(10/2015) This playful and easy-drinking Valpolicella offers up generous ripe and fresh red berry fruit that is clean as a whistle. The wine is well balanced, with medium body, low tannin levels and no oak flavors. We recommend chilling down the bottle a bit before enjoying with cured meats, simple red sauce pasta or mild cheeses.
