Clos i Terrasses "Clos Erasmus" Priorat 2014

97 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "There is a little more Syrah in the blend of the 2014 Clos Erasmus, where it reached around 30% to complement the majority of Garnacha. As is the norm, the wine matured for some 18 months before bottling, with most of the volume in French oak barrels, 40% of which are renewed each vintage, but there are also one or two amphorae. I tasted it next to the 2013 and as the 2013 required so much attention, it took some time to get to the 2014. It showed a bit shy at first, but when I finally came back to it, I found that it had really blossomed with a mixture of violets, ground, smoky meat and black raspberries. The slight increase in Syrah was noticeable, but it somehow also seemed to increase the voice of the slate in the bottle. The palate is medium to full-bodied with wonderful balance and elegance combined with inner strength. This is simply terrific. 3,000 bottles were filled at the end of May 2016. Drink Date: 2016 - 2025."

Philip Togni Spring Mountain Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

94+ Wine Advocate
97 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(10/2016) "Togni's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is quite dark and powerful, but also very much medium in body. Graphite, smoke, savory herbs, mint, leather and a core of inky dark red and purplish fruit infuse this deep, beautifully layered Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 is a wine built on energy and aromatics that won't hit its stride until at least age ten. Drinking window: 2024 - 2039."

Cayuse "En Cerise" Walla Walla Valley Syrah 2014

94-96 Wine Advocate
(6/2016) "The 2014 Syrah En Cerise was a touch more streamlined and reticent on this occasion, yet still offers beautiful black cherry and cassis fruits, underbrush and a hint of espresso roast in a full-bodied, silky, elegant style. Like all of Christophe's wines, it will benefit from short-term cellaring."

Orin Swift "Mercury Head" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

96 Wine Advocate
(10/2016) "A spectacular wine, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Mercury Head is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the Taplin and Morisoli vineyards and several Atlas Peak vineyards, aged 18 months in 50% new French oak. There are 5,461 cases of this wine. The wine is a classic, broad-shouldered, compelling Cabernet Sauvignon with beautiful blueberry and crème de cassis fruit, Christmas fruitcake, cedar wood, white chocolate notes and a hint of graphite and background toast. It is ripe, full-bodied, pure, multidimensional and a mouthful of succulent Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 20+ years. Drink: 2016 - 2036."

Patricia Green Cellars "Mysterious" Pinot Noir 2014

94 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
92 Wine Advocate
(4/23/2016) "The 2014 Pinot Noir Mysterious comes from the Dundee Hills; it includes 55% whole cluster fermentation and was matured in 33% new oak barrels. It has a very perfumed bouquet with blueberry and redcurrant aromas given lift by the new oak, a touch of sous-bois developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite sensual in the mouth thanks to its silkiness, very cohesive with cranberry, wild strawberry and a pinch of black pepper. It feels so lithe with a persistent finish that lasts 30 seconds. Like many to their 2014s, I love the purity here and it should give a decade's worth of pleasure, possibly more."

Venge Vineyards "Scout's Honor" Napa Valley Red Blend 2014

94 Wine Advocate
(12/2016) The highly successful Venge 2014 Scout's Honor is, in this incarnation, a blend of 71% Zinfandel, 7% Petite Sirah, 16% Charbono and 6% Syrah, tipping the scales at 15.3% natural alcohol. A major sleeper of the vintage, this is a killer wine that sells for a song for as good as it is. Inky purple with blackberry and cassis fruit, licorice, incense and graphite, the wine is full-bodied, unctuously textured and a thrilling mouthful of wine that satisfies both the hedonistic and intellectual senses. This is one of the best Scout's Honor I have ever tasted. Kudos to Nils Venge's son Kirk, the current winemaker.

Tenuta delle Terre Nere "Prephyloxera Vigna di Don Peppino" Etna Rosso 2014

96+ Vinous, Ian D'Agata
(12/2016) "Luminous red. Red cherry, marzipan, raspberry jam, quinine, blood orange and a dusting of powdered minerals on the drop-dead gorgeous nose. Wonderfully juicy, sweet and gripping in the mouth, showing superb nuance and verve to the soft, fleshy red fruit, candied violet and balsamic flavors. Finishes vibrant and with noteworthy length; broad but polished tannins coat the entire mouth. An Etna Rosso of memorable purity and precision, this is great to drink already but promises greater things still to come. Made from a parcel of old pre-phylloxeric vines that grow in the Calderara Sottana vineyard (one row of which actually grows in the Santo Spirito cru), but at 100+ years of age, the Don Peppino vines are much older than those used for the Calderara Sottana bottling. In fact, this wine is a textbook example of the importance of old vines, because as delightful as the Calderara Sottana Etna Rosso is, the Don Peppino is vastly superior due to its softer, nobler tannins and greater depth and complexity of fruit. Drinking Window: 2018 - 2026."

Patricia Green Cellars "Notorious" Pinot Noir 2014

94 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
93 Wine Advocate
(4/23/2016) "The 2014 Pinot Noir Notorious is a barrel selection from new oak barrels, each with four to seven gallons of settling lees added when they are filled. This consists of two barrels from Freedom Hill, two barrels from Balcombe Vineyard, and one barrel from Durant and Olenik Vineyard. Naturally, the new oak comes through quite strongly at this early stage, although it feels in sync with the fruit, quite polished and pure. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture, the acidity very well judged, very harmonious and yet it is obvious that it will need several years for its personality to be revealed. This will be a seductive and doubtless quite sensual Pinot Noir with great pedigree."

94 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a dense opaque purple color, a kiss of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel with ripe tannin and a long finish. It is very Caymus in its immediate accessibility, but has plenty of staying power and depth. This is lush, full, intense and pure. Drink it over the next 15 or so years. Drink Date: 2016 - 2031."

Domaine Pierre Gonon Saint-Joseph Rouge 2014

93-94 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(3/2016) "Opaque ruby. A heady, smoke- and spice-tinged bouquet evokes fresh dark fruits, olive paste and potpourri, while an olive nuance comes up slowly. Fine-grained and sharply focused on the palate, offering concentrated black and blue fruit flavors that spread out and become spicier on the back half. Powerful yet graceful in character, finishing with outstanding energy and smooth, harmonious tannins that fold quickly into the wine's energetic fruit."
