Jauma McLaren Vale Chenin Blanc Petnat 2016

90 Our Score
(2/2017) This delightfully playful Pet Nat is made from 100% Chenin Blanc from 60 year old vines in the Blewitt Springs region of South Australia. This is the best adult lemonade that you can have! The wine is cloudy and spritzy with notes of lemon pith, ginger and grapefruit rind. Jauma is churning out some of the best and most interesting new wave of wines in the region. This is pure sunshine in a bottle!

Lucy Margaux "Red" Adelaide Hills Red 2016

91 Our Score
(3/2017) The 2016 Lucy Margaux "Red" is 100% Merlot from organically farmed vines, this is not even remotely close to being your typical Merlot, and it is raw and rustic with plenty of funk. Wine maker Anton Van Klopper is considered one of the "Godfathers" of Australia's natural wine movements, and is affectionately known as the "Wildman". Anton bottles his wines with zero additives. Nothing is added and nothing is taken away. This is an eye opening bottle of wine and a great introduction to a man who is nothing short of revolutionary.

Domaine Lafage "Miraflors" Cotes du Roussillon Rose 2016

90 Our Score
91 Wine Advocate
(4/28/2017) "Light in color, yet not in flavor, the 2016 Côtes du Roussillon Miraflors Rose (60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Carignan) offers terrific notes of white cherries, strawberries and rose petals in a medium-bodied, layered, impeccably balanced style that's just hard to resist. It doesn't have the chiseled feel of the Grande Cuvee, but it offers just as much pleasure."

Day Wines Mamacita Pet Nat Malvasia 2016

90 Our Score
(4/2017) The 2016 rendition of "Mamacita" is a blend of 80% Malvasia and 20% Muscat. This bright and playful Pet Nat has become a Vin Chicago favorite over the past couple vintages. The addition of Muscat in this bottling creates even more intense aromatics than prior renderings. The palate is bright and energetic with notes of lemon and grapefruit zest, tangerine peel and ting (a Caribbean grapefruit soda). This is meant to be drunk out in the sunshine with a big plate of charcuterie.

Aspen Lane "Jack-O-Bug" Chardonnay 2016

Winemakers Notes
"Light straw in color, this oak aged Chardonnay opens with baked apple, lemongrass, and light brown sugar on the nose. Those aromas continue onto the palate joined by lemon and baking spices from the oak. Slightly grassy in flavor, this wine is incredibly drinkable. Softened by malolactic fermentation, but not buttery, this wine finishes slowly and coats your mouth. Drink now through 2020."

Domaine de la Mordoree "La Dame Rousse" Tavel Rose 2016

91 Our Score
From the Rosé-only appellation of Tavel, this blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Cinsault is an absolute powerhouse. It is NOT for those that like their Rosé dainty and light. This is a bruiser of a Rosé, ideally served with grilled meat, and it wouldn't be out of line to pair this wine with steak, lamb, or even venison. We are in love with the way the big flavors mesh perfectly together and offer up something completely different than most other Rosés!

A Tribute to Grace Santa Barbara County Grenache Rose 2016

91 Our Score
(4/2017) A Tribute to Grace is the label of Angela Osborne, a New Zealand born winemaker who moved to California in 2006 to focus on her passion for Grenache. We've loved her Rose for the past two vintages but allocations were too small to feature it. We are thrilled that more came to Chicago this year, and it might be her best vintage yet! The interplay between delicate weightlessness and power is seamless. High toned floral notes of hibiscus and orange blossom are balanced by delicious red berries and candied orange rind, leading into a zesty, mineral-driven finish. A soulful Rose to drink now, and with enough of structure to consider cellaring until next year.

Day Wines "Vin de Days Blanc" Willamette Valley White Blend 2016

90 Our Score
(3/2017) The newly release "Vin de Days Blanc" is an Alsatian inspired field blend of 42% Pinot Blanc, 16% Pinot Gris, 16% Riesling, 14% Muller Thurgau and 11% Muscat. This enticing blend was sourced from a number of organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards throughout the Willamette. The texture is supple and round, gently coating the palate only to be energized by the zesty acidity, creating a wine of great balance and versatility. The aromatics are reminiscent of springtime, and indeed those are the types of food that this would pair wonderfully with, such a fresh salads and roasted chicken.

(2/2017) "Great concentration of melon and tropical fruit, this is fresh, elegant and not overpowering, unlike many Kiwi Sauvignons. Citrus and herbal characters are present with a tangy mouthfeel which keeps the wine fresh and alive. It will age well too."

Loveblock Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Winemaker Kim Crawford long ago sold the brand that carries his name. Loveblock is his current project and it's classic Kiwi SB.
90 Wine Spectator
90 Wine Enthusiast
(3/31/2017) "Gooseberries and yellow plums mark the nose of this medium-bodied wine. Some grassy-herbal elements add freshness and nuance, while the finish is long, dry and filled with stone fruit."
