Clos i Terrasses "Clos Erasmus" Priorat 2014

97 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "There is a little more Syrah in the blend of the 2014 Clos Erasmus, where it reached around 30% to complement the majority of Garnacha. As is the norm, the wine matured for some 18 months before bottling, with most of the volume in French oak barrels, 40% of which are renewed each vintage, but there are also one or two amphorae. I tasted it next to the 2013 and as the 2013 required so much attention, it took some time to get to the 2014. It showed a bit shy at first, but when I finally came back to it, I found that it had really blossomed with a mixture of violets, ground, smoky meat and black raspberries. The slight increase in Syrah was noticeable, but it somehow also seemed to increase the voice of the slate in the bottle. The palate is medium to full-bodied with wonderful balance and elegance combined with inner strength. This is simply terrific. 3,000 bottles were filled at the end of May 2016. Drink Date: 2016 - 2025."

Dominio Basconcillos "Vigna Magna" Ribera del Duero 2011

95 Wine Spectator
(7/31/2016) "This powerful red delivers cassis, blackberry and garrigue flavors, framed by espresso, tar and mineral notes, well-integrated and supported by muscular tannins and balsamic acidity. Dense but lively, with floral and mineral accents on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2031. 200 cases made."

Familia Nin-Ortiz Planetes de Nin Priorat 2010

92 International Wine Cellar
"(70% garnacha and 30% carinena, from a five-hectare vineyard that produces enough grapes to make about 100 cases of wine; aged for 15 months in large French oak): Vivid ruby. Highly perfumed, seductive aromas of fresh red berries, minerals, lavender, blood orange and Asian spices. Sappy raspberry and cherry flavors show impressive depth and intensity, along with a slow-mounting floral quality. Strikingly pure and energetic wine with excellent finishing cut and spicy persistence." (Spain)

Bodegas Juan Gil "Aniversario 100" Jumilla 2013

90 Our Score
(9/2016) The Juan Gil family celebrates its 100th anniversary of winemaking with this powerful blend of 50% Monastrell, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Syrah. Juan Gil fans will enjoy the boisterous flavors of this delicious and outrageously fun wine. The mouth presence is huge; filled with flavors of black cherry concentrate, blueberry, toast, coffee and vanilla. Great by itself or with grilled meat. Congrats to our friends at Juan Gil!

Bodegas Volver "Triga" Alicante 2012

92 Wine Advocate
93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2014) "(85% monastrell and 15% cabernet sauvignon; made from the estate's oldest monastrell vines, planted back to 1925): Inky ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes fresh black and blue fruits, incense, potpourri and five-spice powder. Stains the palate with intense boysenberry and cherry compote flavors, given spine and lift by a zesty mineral nuance. Densely packed yet lithe, finishing with outstanding thrust and smooth tannins that build slowly."
