Wachter-Wiesler "Ried Reserve" Burgenland Blaufrankisch 2012

95 James Suckling
(12/2016) "A great Eisenberg blaufränkisch that's just beginning to give its best. The uplifting nose of laurel and bay leaves as well as elderberries leads to a sleek but very concentrated palate, in which the fresh acidity and moderately dry tannins are beautifully integrated. Achieves lift-off just as the long, brilliant finish enters the picture."

Claus Preisinger "Kalkstein" Burgenland Blaufrankisch 2014

89+ Our Score
90 Wine & Spirits
(4/2017) "Preisinger selects the grapes for this wine from parcels rich in limestone (kalkstein), then ferments the fruit with ambient yeasts in stainless steel tanks and ages it ten months in barrels. The result is a pretty blaufränkisch, delicate in its cedar spice and juicy black fruit. It ends clean, the acidity palate whetting."

Two Mountain "Copeland Vineyard" Rattlesnake Hills Lemberger 2014

90 Our Score
(9/2016) Known to most of the world as Blaufränkisch, the Lemberger grape is delightfully approachable and a terrific value. The Two Mountain Winery is only one of about a dozen producers in Washington that make Lemberger, and this one is outstanding. Pinot-like structure, a rippling backbone of acidity and a pop of tannin make it one of the most food-friendly wines around, complete with hints of pepper, citrus and vanilla on the nose. If you love refreshing, lighter-style reds and are looking for something off the beaten path, this wine is a must-try!
