Niepoort Vintage Port 2011

95 Wine Spectator
97 James Suckling
95 Wine Enthusiast
94+ Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
94-96 Wine Advocate
(6/2013) "The glass containing the Niepoort Vintage is almost overflowing with fruity aromas - damson, cassis, tobacco and cigar box all beautifully defined. With aeration there is a very appealing sense of Bordeaux-like austerity that comes forth. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, a slight savoriness infusing the tertiary black fruit, and superb structure on the reserved, quite aristocratic finish, which offers a kick of spice on the aftertaste. Wonderful."

Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot "Indigene" Extra Brut NV

92 Our Score
(11/2014) A blend of 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 5% Poulsard and 5% Trousseau from the master of Jura sparkling wine, Tissot. Aged 30 months on the lees with no dosage, the secondary fermentation liquid, the "Prise de Mousse," is actually Vin de Paille (the dried grape elixir that costs big bucks) This wine in Magnum is so exciting!

Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot Cremant du Jura Extra Brut NV

91 Our Score
When our tasting panel tried this for the first time, all we could say was "wow!" The looks on our faces were priceless. Champagne is certainly not the only source in France for high quality, complex and thought provoking sparkling wines. The term Crémant is reserved for seven appellations throughout France that produce sparkling wines by the same method used in the great region of Champagne. The Jura (located due east of Burgundy and just west of the Swiss border) received approval to produce Cremant in 1995. This delicious bottling is 50% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir with the local varieties of Trousseau and Poulsard making up the remaining 10%. The wine sees no dosage (the addition of sugar after the secondary fermentation) and the result is a bone dry "extra brut" wine with crisp and mouthwatering acidity complemented by a creamy palate. The finish is lengthy with subtle hints of nuts. This is a great substitute for Champagne if you're looking to increase value without sacrificing quality. You'll find it being poured by-the-glass at some of Chicago's top restaurants such as Brindille, Sepia, The Boarding House and Pops!

Broadside "Printer's Alley" Central Coast Proprietary Red 2012

90 Our Score
(1/2015) Broadside has been a darling of sommeliers in recent years and this bottling is a good reason why. The 2012 Printer's Alley is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 4% Petite Verdot from a cool climate vineyard in Paso Robles. Matured in 100% neutral French oak, it offers a combination of black cherry, black berry and strawberry flavors along with a touch of bay leaf and black pepper. Complex with great structure and soft tannin, it's a treat to taste a quality blend that is not all about uber-ripe fruit and sweetness.

Dominio des Tharsys Brut Nature Cava NV

90 Our Score
(10/2014) One of our best sparkling wine values is back! This is a bone-dry Spanish Cava and it is as clean and fresh as they get. Orange rind, apples and a hint of nuttiness are what you'll find on the nicely complex palate. An absolute steal at the price.
