Charles Joguet "Clos de la Dioterie" Chinon 2012

94+ Our Score
(7/2015) Joguet is the most storied grower in Chinon and "Clos de la Dioterie" is Joguet's most special wine. Dioterie is a true single vineyard parcel, situated right next to the winery, and is home to the property's oldest vines. We were lucky enough to taste this special wine in Joguet's famed chalk caves of Chinon. It is a deliciously concentrated effort, and though it will ideally sit for 5-7 years before being consumed, it is more approachable than one would think. Comparable to world class right-bank Bordeaux, with a more nervy spine.

Tranche Cellars Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Franc 2011

90 Wine Advocate
(6/28/2015) "The 2011 Cabernet Franc Blue Mountain Estate Vineyard spent 22 months in a combination of new and used oak. It offers classic Cab Franc herbal, peppery, smoked earth and darker, chocolatey fruit in a medium+-bodied, balanced, nicely made style. Its outstanding, and given the more difficult vintage, a solid wine that should evolve nicely."

Domaine Guiberteau "Les Motelles" Saumur Rouge 2011

90 Vinous, Joel Payne
(12/2014) "Dark ruby. A redcurrant aroma is complicated by earthy nuances of truffle and tobacco. At once energetic and suave, showing a sappy quality to the Bing cherry and tobacco flavors. Finishes with firm tannins and good juicy persistence. This cabernet franc comes from a one-hectare plot that was replanted in 1955. 3,500 bottles produced."

Halcyon Paso Robles Cabernet Franc 2015

91 Our Score
(2/2017) This 2015 Cabernet Franc, from husband and wife duo Tyler and Kim Elwell, is only their second release and a mere 150 cases were produced. About 12 of those made it to Illinois, so needless to say, this stuff is hard to find! The fruit comes from a small single vineyard in the Templeton Gap AVA of Paso Robles. This area is buffeted by maritime winds and the temperature is typically 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the rest of Paso. There is a distinct nod to the Loire Valley in its earthier components, but the heart and soul of this wine is pure California fruit and sunshine. Slightly lighter bodied than their inaugural release, this vintage checks in at only 11.9% ABV. Peppery and herbaceous notes scream cool climate Cab Franc. These flavors, coupled with precise red fruits and high acid, come together to make this a delicately knitted beauty.Jump on this while we have it because once it makes some friends, it will not last long!

Field Recordings "Franc" Paso Robles Cabernet Franc 2015

90 Our Score
(9/2016) This juicy and delicious Cabernet Franc is sourced from various vineyards throughout Paso Robles. With 5% Malbec added in, it offers up ripe and fresh flavors of black cherry, blueberry and blackberry with a hint of earth and a whiff of fresh and aromatic green herbs. The soft texture comes from the relaxing eight months it spent in neutral French oak which also adds a touch of spice while preserving the wines fruit forward style. Chill this down for ultimate enjoyment and drink it with grilled sausages, chicken, pork or all on its own!

Bernard Baudry "Les Granges" Chinon 2015

90+ Our Score
(11/2016) This complex Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley's Chinon region is one rockin' value! It offers up a symphony of flavors ranging from clean and fresh red cherry and raspberry fruits to notes of pepper, leather, tobacco, violet, and dried herbs. There's even a streak of rocky minerality running through the middle of it all. This savory, medium-bodied red has well integrated tannins that make it a great companion for an array of comfort foods like roast chicken or hearty beef stews.

Domaine de la Chanteleuserie "Cuvee Alouettes" Bourgueil Rouge 2014

90 Our Score
(4/2016) Right on the heels of Chanteleuserie's popular 2013 bottling comes this outstanding new release of Cuvée Alouettes. A customer and staff favorite, this 2014 offers up all of the delicious flavors we've come to love in this wine, but with even more depth and richness than 2013. The mix of dark red and black fruit flavors are ripe and pure, complemented by earthy notes of dried leaves, twigs and forest floor. This dry, medium bodied Cabernet Franc is soft with a great mouth feel, well integrated tannins and a long finish. As with most Loire Valley reds, it is best served with a slight chill.

(5/2016) One of our perennial customer favorites is delicious yet again! Sourced from Cabernet Franc grapes grown in the Loire Valley region of Chinon, the Couly never disappoints, giving juicy red berry fruit, a hint of candied watermelon, green bell pepper, a generous mouthfeel and a lively finish. Chill it and get it!
