Terrazas de los Andes "Las Compuertas" Lujan de Cuyo Mendoza Malbec 2011

97 James Suckling
(6/11/2014) "There is a clarity and purity to this malbec with dark berries, pepper, rose petal, violets. Even cloves. Full body, with wonderfully fine tannins and a polished and beautiful finish. It lasts for minutes on the finish. Such precision. Better in 2016 but so gorgeous now."

SuperUco "Calcareo-Granito de Tupungato" Mendoza Malbec 2013

95 Wine Advocate
(7/2015) "SuperUco is the name of the new project from the Michelini brothers with other friends and partners like Daniel Sammartino. The 2013 Calcáreo Granito de Tupungato starts with lactic notes followed by ripe plum and ripe skin aromas from grapes grown at higher altitude, closer to the sun. It is a bit wild. The palate is tremendously mineral, with a chalky texture and incredible length. The tannins are ultra-fine and the wine is compact, very harmonious. This is the more austere and mineral of the three. Awesome value! Some 3,000 bottles produced."

Bodegas Catena "Alta" Mendoza Malbec 2013

94 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "I had two vintages to taste of a blend from their best vineyards, Angelica (Lunlunta), La Piramide (Agrelo), Nicasia (Altamira) and Adrianna (Gualtallary), one of them the 2013 Catena Alta Malbec, from a cool vintage that produced very balanced and fresh wines. There is contained ripeness and subtle aromas, harmonious, with unnoticeable oak aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft, polished tannins and great acidity."

Vina Cobos "Bramare" Lujan de Cuyo Malbec 2012

A powerful and hugely pleasing bottling from the legendary Paul Hobbs. One of the best Malbecs we have ever tasted.

(2/2015) "Bright, full ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, licorice, dark chocolate and sweet oak spices are lifted by a violet topnote. Creamy and subtly sweet, with high-class oak and nicely integrated acidity giving shape to the flavors of black raspberry, currant and dark chocolate. This very glossy wine finishes with fine-grained tannins and lovely persistence. Balanced from day one but has the density to evolve slowly and positively in bottle. Drinking window 2017 - 2023"

Achaval Ferrer Mendoza Malbec 2013

90 Wine Spectator
90 James Suckling
92 Wine Advocate
(8/2015) "The 2013 Malbec, mainly from Medrano and Perdriel, matured in used barrels for eight months. This is extremely aromatic and perfumed with intense aromas of violets and even lilies, and some fruitiness akin to a Touringa Nacional and even Moscatel, but of course, it had none in the blend. The palate is silky, the tannins are extremely fine and there is no trace of oak here plus the acidity is subtle and very well integrated. 2013 is higher in acidity than 2014. This is a superb Malbec with high-pitched fruit.."

Chateau La Caminade "La Commandery" Cahors 2010

90+ Our Score
(1/2015) This 4th generation family-owned Domaine is located in France's Lot department and is turning out some seriously delicious Malbec under the local Cahors appellation. The grapes for their "La Commandery" bottling are selected from the best vineyard sites of the appellation, located on the upper terraces. Once poured, take a moment to enjoy the beautiful bouquet. The flavors are deep and complex with plenty of dark fruit. The palate is balanced with a medium-full body and ripe tannins that call out for food. Watch out Argentina, Malbec from Cahors is back!

(8/2015) "Always a dense and concentrated wine, this new vintage also reveal rich fruit, blackberry and plum. Combined with dark tannins and layers of spice from wood aging, it's a structured wine that finishes with fresh, fruity acidity. Drink from 2018."

Catena Mendoza Malbec 2013

91 Wine Advocate
90+ Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(3/2016) "Dark red with ruby tones. Vibrant aromas of pomegranate, cranberry, mint, licorice, chocolate and cocoa powder. Bright and sharply delineated for Malbec, showing an exhilarating coolness to its juicy flavors of crushed plum, blackberry and raspberry. The tannins are suave, pliant and fine-grained. This very attractive Malbec will rely more on its acidity than its tannins for longevity. Drinking window 2017 - 2021"

Finca Decero "Remolinos Vineyard" Mendoza Malbec 2013

91 Wine Advocate
(8/2015) "The 2013 Malbec Remolinos Vineyard is from their estate Remolinos Vineyard in Agrelo that was planted in the year 2000. It has a clean nose with very well-integrated oak and a fruit-driven nose full of violets, berries, good freshness and elegance. The palate is very balanced and fresh with no edges. It is simply delicious. This is very drinkable now, but should also be capable of developing in bottle. 240,000 bottles produced, so it should be readily available."
