Cantina Sociale Cooperativa Copertino Riserva 2008

88 Wine Spectator
89+ Our Score
(9/2015) Apulia is one of our favorite spots for rustic, rugged Italian red wine values. A blend of 95% Negroamaro and 5% Malvasia Nera, this offering comes from a quality focused co-op in the small town of Copertino. This 2008 bottling, which is their current release, gives flavors of dried cranberry, smoked meat, pepper, leather and cigar wrapper along with bright acidity and a long finish. At under twelve bucks a bottle, it provides a huge amount of bang for the buck. Try it with Barese sausages from Bari on Grand Ave!

Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva 2013

90 Our Score
90 Wine Advocate
(8/2016) "The Cantele 2013 Salice Salentino Riserva shows a greater level of depth and finesse compared to many of its peers. The wine is packed tight with blackberry fruit, with Maraschino cherry, plum and prune in abundance. The wine is chewy and rich for sure, but it also provides an authentic and generous portrait of a red wine from Puglia. A spicy beef or lamb dish would make the perfect pairing partner."
