Domaine Fourrier 1er Cru "Les Goulots" Vieilles Vigne Gevrey Chambertin 2013

91-93 Burghound
91-94 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(1/2015) "Dark red with ruby highlights. Aromas of blueberry, raspberry, leather and game, lifted by a crushed stone element. In a supple, ripe style, but with terrific sappy intensity and lift to the crushed raspberry and mineral flavors. The tannins are fine-grained and sweet. A stunning example of this calcaire-rich premier cru."

Domaine Serene "Evenstad Reserve" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2012

92 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
94 Wine Enthusiast
93 Wine Spectator
93 James Suckling

(3/2015) "The 2012 Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve was picked from late summer after one of the driest on record. There was better heat accumulation, according to Erik Kramer, but he does not regard it has a hot vintage. It was a low yield at around 1.7 and 1.8 tons per acre, partly due to a preflowering cluster removal. The skin-to-pulp ratio was very high and it was raised in 65% new oak over 16 months. It has a deep garnet color. The bouquet is in stark contrast with strawberry pastille and raspberry coulis, hints of iodine developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red berry fruit interlaced with sea salt and white pepper. There is an undercurrent of gaminess to this 2012 that lends intrigue toward the finish that gently grips the mouth. Not as opulent as other 2012 Pinot Noirs that I have tasted, but clearly very well crafted by winemaker Erik Kramer and with a prosperous future ahead. Drink: 2016-2028."

Egly Ouriet "Les Crayeres" Brut Blanc de Noirs Vieille Vignes NV

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $129.99!
96 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(8/2016) "The NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Les Crayères Vieilles Vignes is one of the more refined, polished wines I have ever tasted from Francis Egly. Everything is simply in the right place. Mirabelle plum, hard candy, flowers, mint and chalk are all beautifully delineated in a super-classy, polished Champagne that showcases the Egly-Ouriet style at its very best. Lifted, gracious and precise, the Vieilles Vignes is simply magnificent. The 25% new oak is totally integrated, even at this early stage. This release is 60% 2009 and 40% 2008, a blend of vintages that could not possibly be more complementary. Disgorged November, 2015. Dosage is 2 grams per liter."

Domaine Henri Gouges "Les Pruliers" Nuits St Georges 1er Cru 2012

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $94.79!
93-96 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(1/2014) "Gouge's 2012 Nuits St. Georges Les Pruliers is less immediate than some of the other wines in the range. Here it is the crystalline purity of the aromas and flavors that stands out most. Violets, plums, licorice, sweet spices and tar are all woven together in a wine that shows the finesse Nuits can at times achieve. The tannins are firm yet also impeccable in their silkiness. Structurally quite classic, the 2012 will reward cellaring."

Domaine Perrot Minot Gevrey Chambertin 2014

Burghounds Allen Meadow is notoriously one of the toughest scorers in the business. We gave it a few extra points but completely agree with his review. Beautiful wine!

(1/2016) "A cool, pure and airy nose present notes of red and dark earth-inflected fruit where once again there is a discreet floral wisp. There is more punch to the delicious and again seductively textured medium-bodied flavors where a fine bead of minerality adds a sense of lift to the rich, sappy and lingering finish. While certainly very pretty this isn't overly complex but if this can add more depth than my score envisions, it should make for a very fine Gevrey villages as I like the delivery. Drink: 2020+"

Belle Glos "Dairyman Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2013

92 Wine Spectator
(12/2014) "Exhibits a rich array of flavor and personality. Spicy, toasty anise and black licorice notes join cedary oak details, lending this a distinctive edge, with the blackberry and raspberry elements slow to move to the forefront. Ends with a persistent finish. Drink now through 2023. 3,720 cases made."

Belle Glos "Dairyman Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Incredible value for one of the most sought after names in Pinot Noir!
89 Wine Spectator
(8/31/2014) "Intense, with rich, dense, vivid dark berry, rhubarb and mocha notes. A powerful expression of Pinot Noir that begs for some cellar time. Best from 2015 through 2023."

Beckham Estate Vineyard Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir 2012

91 Our Score
(11/2015) Beckham Estate is a small, family owned vineyard and winery located in Willamette Valley's Chehalem Mountains. The 2012 vintage for Oregon is regarded as one of the greatest ever and Beckham has made one of their greatest wines in their short history. The 100% estate fruit was hand-harvested, hand-sorted, de-stemmed and whole berry fermented. The cool climate and high elevation of their vineyards yield a wine that is leaner and brighter compared to most, with strong flavors of earth, dried red flower petals and rocky earth that compliment the delicate cherry, strawberry and cranberry fruits. 15 months aging in French oak, 40% of which was new, adds further complexity in the form of baking spices and a round texture. Only 210 cases were bottled in March of 2014.

Sea Smoke "Sea Spray" Blanc de Noirs 2011

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $79.99!
Winemakers Notes
"Hand harvested in late August of 2011, the Pinot Noir for this methode champenoise sparkling wine is the result of a careful cluster selection from Sea Smoke's estate vineyard. Following six months of sur lie aging in barrel, the wine was bottle aged an additional 16 months en tirage prior to disgorging. The wine was finished with no dosage, to preserve its finesse. The nuanced nose expresses cranberries, lavender, fresh bread and lemon curd. The wine enters the palate with energetic freshness and finishes with delightful length."
