Quintarelli Recioto della Valpolicella 2001

Recioto is the semi-sweet version of Amarone and is actually the style that predates the dry version. After the Corvina and Rondinella grapes have been dried on wooden racks for 4 months, they are pressed yielding small quantities of juice. The wine is then aged for at least 8 years in neutral barrel. This is an extremely special bottle and it will be perfect as a dessert.

Clos i Terrasses "Clos Erasmus" Priorat 2014

97 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "There is a little more Syrah in the blend of the 2014 Clos Erasmus, where it reached around 30% to complement the majority of Garnacha. As is the norm, the wine matured for some 18 months before bottling, with most of the volume in French oak barrels, 40% of which are renewed each vintage, but there are also one or two amphorae. I tasted it next to the 2013 and as the 2013 required so much attention, it took some time to get to the 2014. It showed a bit shy at first, but when I finally came back to it, I found that it had really blossomed with a mixture of violets, ground, smoky meat and black raspberries. The slight increase in Syrah was noticeable, but it somehow also seemed to increase the voice of the slate in the bottle. The palate is medium to full-bodied with wonderful balance and elegance combined with inner strength. This is simply terrific. 3,000 bottles were filled at the end of May 2016. Drink Date: 2016 - 2025."

Deltetto "Metodo Classico" Brut Rose NV 3.0 LT

91 Our Score
(5/2016) A unique blend of 50% Nebbiolo and 50% Pinot Nero grown on sandy soils specked with seashells. The soil is warm yet airy, allowing full maturation of the fruit and yielding more complexity than your typical pink bubbly. Done in the traditional method, the wine spends 4 years on its yeast prior to disgorgement. Delicate mousse with a powerful onslaught of ripe bing cherry, pomegranate, and almond.

Orin Swift "Papillon" Napa Valley Red 2012

Papillon is Dave Phinney's Bordeaux blend. Over the past few vintages, it has been one of the quickest Orin Swift wines to sell out. The 2010 and 2011 vintages earned Wine Spectator scores of 92 and 93 points. The Wine Advocate just released the following 93 point review for the 2012!
93 Wine Advocate
(12/2014) "The 2012 Proprietary Red Papillon is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Another big-time winner, it was sourced from multiple AVAs, including Oakville, St. Helena, Howell Mountain and Rutherford. Gorgeous aromas of white chocolate, blackberries, blackcurrants, blue fruits and toasty oak are followed by a full-bodied, layered wine that builds incrementally. The tannins are sweet and well-integrated, and the acidity is sufficient for definition. It is a savory, hedonistic as well as intellectually pleasing wine to enjoy over the next decade or more."

Vina Sena Valle del Aconcagua Red Blend 2013

96 Wine Advocate
99 James Suckling
(7/2015) "Superb aromas of black currants, rose petal and mint. Lavender and stones too. Full body with incredible fruit density. Complex, yet it's agile and bright. Tannins are perfectly polished. It builds on the palate and shows the structure of a first growth Bordeaux but remains so Chilean. A blend of 58% cabernet sauvignon, 15% carmenere, 12% malbec, 10% merlot, and 5% petit verdot. From biodynamically grown grapes. This is a joy to taste now but it will show itself in 2019. Even better than the amazing 2012."

Bacio Divino Napa Valley Proprietary Red 2013

95 Wine Advocate
(10/2015) "One of their best efforts ever (and that says something, given how many fine wines have been produced under the Bacio Divino moniker), the 2013 Bacio Divino, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (sourced from four different vineyards) and Sangiovese (from the Benessere Vineyard in St. Helena), is a beautifully complex wine with big, sexy notes of new saddle leather, blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, silky tannins, a full-bodied, voluptuous texture and lots of personality and glycerin-filled fruit. This is a beauty to drink over the next 7-8 years"

Quinta do Vale Meao Douro 2013

97 Wine Enthusiast
95 Wine Advocate
(3/2016) "The 2013 Tinto (the Estate, flagship red here) is a blend of 58% Touriga Nacional, 35% Touriga Franca, 5% Tinta Barroca and 2% Tinta Roriz, aged for 18 months in 225-liter Allier barriques (80% new and 20% second use). It comes in at 14% alcohol. Adding a layer of concentration and more power to the Meandro, its sibling reviewed this issue, this has a wonderfully elegant feel, while adding some surprising pop and power to the gripping and lingering finish. Let's not forget the part where it provides wonderful intensity of flavor on the finish. It's just delicious this year, without ever being candied, sweet or obvious. Subtle at times, yet intense and persistent, this perfectly balanced beauty should hold well. It has some things to prove in the cellar, but it should develop well. As time goes on, I'm expanding drinking windows, but let's remain a little on the conservative side. Sourced from vines averaging 45 years in age, there were 2,050 cases produced. Drink 2017-2035."

Quinta do Noval Vintage Porto 2011

97 Wine Spectator
97 Wine Advocate
(3/3/2016) "The 2011 Vintage Port is a blend of 60& Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Francesa and 10% Tinto Cão, all aged for 18 months in wood. It comes in at 101.2 grams per liter of residual sugar. It opens with understatement, but that doesn't last long. Showing pure power on the finish, this otherwise elegant Noval (especially refined in the mid-palate) shows itself to be in fine form as it airs out. Pointed, graceful and a bit drying, this is built for the long haul. It's a Port you need to cellar. It will one day gain complexity, open more fully and become more interesting. That day is not today, although if you air it out long enough, the fine fruit and flavor eventually come through. By the end of the week, this was actually possible to drink, although even then, as it sat in the glass, it became tighter and slightly astringent--showing off its power and intensity. Its firmness and underlying concentration are beautifully matched by the fruit, though. The balance is impeccable. If you have some old school patience, snap this up by the case. It may be accessible younger than I suggest, but this is a Port that should be put away for a couple of decades, or more, for best results."

Booker Vineyards "Oubile" Paso Robles Red Blend 2013

94 Wine Advocate
(8/2015) "The ruby/semi-opaque colored 2013 Oublie is a sensational blend of 46% Grenache, 34% Mourvedre and 20% Counoise that offers a seamless, layered and complex array of blueberry, black raspberry, dried flowers, vanilla bean and spice on the nose. Pure silk on the palate, with full-bodied richness and no hard edges, this impeccably balanced red has a full, layered mid-palate, sweet tannin and a terrific finish. One of those wines where the bottle's empty before you know it, drink this beauty over the coming 5-8 years. Drink: 2015 - 2023"

Chateau Saint Cosme "Valbelle" Gigondas 2013

93 Wine Spectator
93 Wine Advocate
(3/2016) "A big, rich, medium to full-bodied effort, the 2013 Gigondas Cuvee Valbelle is 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah that saw the same vinification and elevage as the three single vineyard releases. It offers classic notes of graphite, black currants, toasted spice and lavender, to go with a superb mid-palate, beautiful fruit intensity and a great finish. While slightly more approachable than the single vineyard releases it still will be better with short term cellaring and drink nicely through 2025."
