Domaine de la Janasse "Vieilles Vignes" Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2012

96 Wine Spectator
96 Wine Advocate
(10/2014) "Up in the top handful of wines in the vintage (which should come as no surprise to anyone who follows this estate), the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is a full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, rich and layered Châteauneuf that doesn't put a foot wrong. Made from 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre and the rest Syrah, it offers blockbuster notes of blackberry, liquid-violets, spice and serious minerality to go with awesome mid-palate depth and layers of sweet tannin. Like the Cuvee Chaupin, it will be better in another handful of years and thrill through 2027."

Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2012

(10/2014) "The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin, which I was able to taste (and drink) from multiple bottles, is a beautiful Grenache that comes from the cooler, northeastern edge of the appellation. Coming almost all from the Chapouin lieu-dit (it gets a small bit from La Janasse), it gives up the classic notes of black berries, spring flowers, violets, and licorice that I always seem to find in this cuvee. Building nicely on the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, has tons of sweet fruit and solid, if not firm, tannin that come out on the finish. It will be better in another couple of years and have 15+ years of overall longevity."

Clos du Mont-Olivet "Cuvee du Papet" Chateauneuf du Pape 2012

92 Wine Spectator
94-96 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(1/2014) "Brilliant ruby. Spice- and mineral-accented red fruits and lavender on the intensely perfumed nose. Juicy, focused and pure, with excellent depth to its raspberry and cherry compote flavors. Puts on weight with air without any loss of vibrancy. The mineral element carries strongly through the finish, which features silky tannins and a strong red fruit quality. Extremely elegant Chateauneuf, balanced to age."

Domaine Charvin Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2012

A complex, elegant and sophisticated Chateauneuf!
95 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
93 Wine Advocate
94 Wine Spectator
(4/30/2015) ?This is gorgeous, featuring rosemary-infused cassis, tobacco leaf and savory notes out front, followed by lush plum and blackberry fruit accents. The structure is pebbly in feel but well-integrated, with a smoldering lavender hint lining the finish. Should blossom with cellaring. Best from 2017 through 2026. 450 cases imported.?

Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2012

94 Wine Spectator
(11/15/2014) "Rock-solid, with a hefty core of fig, blackberry and black cherry fruit, wrapped in chestnut and tobacco leaf notes and carrying through a lavender- and tar-framed finish. Dense and grippy, showing a slightly old-school shading. Should cellar well. Best from 2016 through 2030."

Chateau Saint Cosme Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2012

92 Vinous, Josh Raynolds

(3/2016) "The 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape showed nicely from barrel last year, and didn't disappoint this go around. Offering a classic feel in its Provencal herbs, black raspberry, licorice and peppery bouquet, it's medium to full-bodied, shows the vintage's voluptuous texture and has outstanding length. It already has plenty of appeal, yet it will evolve gracefully for at least another decade."

(10/2014) "The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes offers smoking notes of kirsch, black cherry liqueur, ground herbs, licorice and big minerality. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, seamless, pure and exceedingly elegant, all while carrying superb mid-palate concentration, plenty of tannic grip and a blockbuster finish. Drink this brilliant 2012 over the coming decade or more."

Domaine des Senechaux Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2012

93 Wine Advocate
(10/2014) "Another rocking wine from this team, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape doesn't disappoint and gives up loads of kirsch, cassis, licorice, meat juice, licorice and roasted herbs. Made from a blend of mostly Grenache, with Syrah and Mourvedre that was brought up in foudre, barrels and concrete, it's a fruit-filled, medium to full-bodied, seamless and beautifully Provencal effort to drink over the coming decade."

Saint Jean du Barroux "Le Pierre Noire" Ventoux Rouge 2009

94+ Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "One of the top estates in the Ventoux, Saint Jean du Barroux is run by the talented Philippe Gimel, who studied under Christophe and Isabel Sabon at Domaine de la Janasse. More expansive and voluptuous [than their , the 2009 Cotes du Ventoux La Pierre Noir (85% Grenache and 15% Syrah) offers a slightly darker profile, with blackberry, ground pepper, forest floor, mineral and licorice all emerging from the glass. Full-bodied, rich and textured, it has smoking level of fruit, yet backs it up with masses of finely polished tannin that are only partially concealed by the fruit. Enjoy this beauty over the coming 5-6 years, although I'd put money on it lasting quite a bit longer."
