Leitz Geisenheimer Rothenberg Riesling Eiswein 2010

94 Vinous, Joel Payne
(1/2012) "Bright aromas of camomile tea, orange rind and lemon oil, plus a whiff of smoky botrytis. The supple black cherry flavor is animated by finely chiseled minerality. Dense yet vibrant, this is what eiswein should be in a vintage that produced very few examples of this quality."

Nikolaihof "Steiner Hund Reserve" Wachau Riesling 2009

96 Wine Advocate
(4/2014) "Nikolaihof's recently released 2009 Riesling Steiner Hund Reserve delivers a scintillating, virtually mesmerizing array of high-toned floral and herbal scents of distillate-like high-toned penetration. I'm not even going to start trying to name them! Added to that are wet stone intimations of the mossy, alkaline, iodine-like and otherwise mineral elements that inform this wine's finely, seamlessly, and complexly woven carpet of flavor. While there are gloss and silken texture present, there are also cut, energy and refreshing brightness that belie the nature of the 2009 vintage. Seeds and grains seemingly as varied as the herbs and flowers with which this wine announced itself, lend deeply mouthwatering savor as well as enhanced invigoration to almost unending primary juiciness of apple, lime and white peach. A bell-like sense of clarity permits every nuance of this amazing Riesling's kaleidoscopically interactive oscillations to reverberate. (Pick your metaphor: on another occasion, I imagined the clarity of a pristine pool through which the interactive elements shimmered.) Plan to follow this for at least another decade."

Selbach-Oster "Schmitt" Zeltinger Sclossberg 2010

96+ Our Score
92 Wine Advocate
(2/2012) "An apple cider, Persian melon, and nut oil matrix inflected with smoky buckwheat and stone characterizes the block-picked, Pradikat-free Selbach-Oster 2010 Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Schmitt. The sense of layering reflecting pickings of green-gold and variously botrytized fruit definitely comes through, along with persistently savory and mineral intrigue, though it will be fascinating to witness whether over the next couple of decades this gains a greater sense of clarity and focus. "These are the rough-cut, unpolished jewels from our best vineyards," says Johannes Selbach of his three block-picked bottlings. "

Selbach-Oster "Rotlay" Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling 2010

96 Our Score
93 Wine Advocate
(2/2012) "The remarkably nuanced, savory complexity as well as the combination of creaminess with vivacity and elegance that characterize this site at its best certainly accrue to the Selbach's block-picked (at 140 aggregate Oechsle!), Pradikat-free 2010 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Rotlay, just as in this year's corresponding Spatlesen and Auslesen. Nut paste, honey, citrus cream, dried apricot, and brown spices are among the layers to be found densely packed yet coursing with almost electric energy and citricity (at 14 grams acidity!). Its hold on my palate is equaled by that on my imagination. Following this over the next two or more decades will be an adventure, and I suspect that it will unfold its layers and its sheer dynamism will turn to captivating dance."

G. D. Vajra "Petracine" Langhe Riesling 2012

A stunning Riesling from one of our favorite Piedmont wine families! If you like the dry, Alsatian style of Riesling, this is a must-try. This wine makes a name for Italian Riesling!
92+ Our Score
91 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(10/2013) "Vajra's 2012 Langhe Riesling is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Lime, tropical fruits, white flowers and spices all jump from the glass. This is one of the more immediate, open, young Vajra Rieslings I can remember tasting, which means the 2012 will drink well beautifully right out of the gate. Floral notes add lift on a finish of exceptional beauty."

Domaine Weinbach "Schlossberg" Grand Cru Riesling 2015

92 James Suckling
(12/2016) "This is still an embryonic wine, but there's a lot of power and earthy-mineral character here and the kind of freshness that will give it great aging potential. A slight gooseberry touch to the long, powerful but clean finish. Made from biodynamically grown grapes."

Adam Dhron Hofberg Riesling Spatlese 2011

Importer Terry Theise says this is his wine of the vintage, and winemaker Andreas Adams greatest achievement to-date!
91 Wine Advocate
(4/2013) "From healthy fruit, as usual for wine of this Pradikat chez Adam - the botrytis having been picked-out beforehand from the relevant parcels - his 2011 Dhronhofberger Riesling Spatlese is, nonetheless, far-gone on sheer ripeness and nearly decadent in its aromas and lush, almost palpably pulpy palate expression of papaya, mango, orange, banana and musk melon. Creamy and glossy in feel and ripe though it is, this, nonetheless, displays an admirable sense of transparency to subtly stony and liquid floral nuances not to mention ample primary juiciness to serve for a refreshing finish. I suspect it will be best enjoyed over the next 10-12 years, but Adam's wines have been evolving (going from strength-to-strength) so steadily and his approach is so singular that one really doesn't have obvious benchmarks for age-ability."

Hexamer "Schlossbockelheim in Den Felsen" Riesling Spatlese 2010

93 Our Score
91+ Wine Advocate
(12/2011) "While less clear in the nose than the corresponding Rheingrafenberg due to this wine's yeasty, spontaneously fermentative overtones, and perhaps also to its share of botrytized fruit, Hexamer's 2010 Schlossbockelheimer in den Felsen Riesling Spatlese is nonetheless energetically and ripely acidic; generously full of lime, peach and raspberry; and finishes with saliva-inducing salinity and stony counterpoint. Less lush than the Rheingrafenberg, it displays greater lift and finishes with tingling zest, berry, and fruit skin tartness. Provided that its slight fermentative shroud dissipates short-term it will easily prove a qualitative match for that sibling. Figure on 12-15 years of delight. Drink: 2011 - 2026."
