Fattoria di Felsina "Fontalloro" Tuscany Rosso 2012

(9/2015) "Dark red cherry, plum, cinnamon and crushed rock nuances flesh out in the 2012 Fontalloro. Next to most of the other wines in the lineup, the 2012 Fontalloro is floral, perfumed, fresh and vibrant, with gorgeous aromatic lift, silky tannins and lovely overall balance. Fontalloro often opens up before Rancia, as is the case today, but the 2012 also possesses more than enough depth to drink well for a number of years. Still, the sexy, radiant finish makes me think most bottles won't be around to make old bones. Put simply, the 2012 Fontalloro is an arrestingly beautiful, showy wine built to please. And please it does."

(8/2013) "The 2010 Fontalloro (Sangiovese) is impeccable. A sweet, open bouquet melds into expressive red fruits. Compared to the 2010 Rancia, Fontalloro is a decidedly more delicate, feminine wine. All the elements are very nicely balanced. I expect the 2010 will enjoy a fairly broad window of drinkability. Today I give the 2010 a very slight nod over the 2009, only because I think the 2010 will age a little longer, but both are striking."

Leonetti Walla Walla Valley Sangiovese 2012

94 Wine Advocate
(6/2015) "The finest vintage of this cuvee to date, the 2012 Walla Walla Sangiovese exhibits brilliant black cherry, dusty spice, leather and crushed herb-like qualities to go with a medium to full-bodied, layered, exceedingly pure profile on the palate. The blend here is 80% Sangiovese, 12% Syrah and 8% Aglianico, all of which spent 22 months in neutral puncheons and oval botti. I don't have much experience with track record of this variety, but I've no doubt this will continue to evolve nicely for at least another decade."

Caprili "AdAlberto" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2010

(3/3/2016) "Caprili owns some of the most beautiful vineyards in Montalcino near Soldera (Case Basse) and Angelo Gaja's Pieve di Santa Restituta. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva AdAlberto is a tight and powerful wine that does a great job of capturing the ideal growing conditions of the vintage. The wine is slightly closed and tightly wound at this point, but Caprili has a proven track record for long aging potential. It promises a slow evolution to those who have the patience to wait. Dark fruit, spice, cola and grilled herb rise to the forefront. In the mouth, the wine shows rich texture and plump, rounded tannins. I tasted this wine 24 hours after opening the bottle, and it showed a beautiful and increasingly elegant personality."

Casanova di Neri "White Label" Brunello di Montalcino 2012

95 Wine Spectator
(6/15/2017) "Effusive aromas and flavors of raspberry, cherry, floral, mineral and tobacco are at the center of this linear, vibrant red. Well-structured, this offers terrific length on the sinewy finish. Best from 2020 through 2035."

Monte Bernardi "Sa'etta" Chianti Classico Riserva 2011

We scored the last of our supplier's inventory of this under-the-radar gem at a dramatically reduced price!
91+ Our Score
Monte Bernardi is a small, family-run estate located in the village of Panzano in the heart of Chianti Classico. They only produce wines from vineyards they farm themselves using biodynamic practices, with the goal of allowing the wine to express the land it comes from. This gorgeous Chianti Classico Riserva is 100% Sangiovese that comes from a special single-vineyard named "Sa'etta." It is aged for 24 months in oak casks, followed by another 12 months in bottle, resulting in a style that is closer to a Brunello than Chianti. This 2011 (a very good vintage) is starting to drink beautifully now and will continue to improve with further bottle age. Classic dried red fruits of cranberries and cherries are interwoven with delicious oak spices and a warm, stony minerality. At our blow-out price, this is one seriously great buy!

Casato "Voliero" Brunello di Montalcino 2007

94 Our Score
95 Wine Advocate
"The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is striking in this vintage, just as it was in 2006. Freshly cut flowers, spices, mint, licorice and tobacco are some of the many notes that jump from the glass in this highly expressive, engaging Brunello. The 2007 shows the freshness and energy of this hillside site on the Montosoli hill with the generosity of the vintage, a very appealing combination in my book. The finish is pure silk and finesse. Once again, the Voliero Brunello is one of the most exciting and complete wines of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027." (Italy)

Riecine "Riecine di Riecine" Toscana IGT 2012

92 Our Score
95 James Suckling
91 Wine Advocate
(12/2016) "The 2012 Riecine is a balanced and undertone wine that offers elegant fruit tones and well-integrated secondary notes of spice and leather. This wine shows the best of the Riecine philosophy thanks to its clean lines and tonic freshness. This IGT Toscana is a pure expression of Sangiovese that was aged in concrete "Nomblot" tanks and neutral oak. Some 8,000 bottles were produced."
