Penfolds Grange 2009

97 Wine Advocate
(2/26/2014) "The 2009 Grange Shiraz is a comprised of 84% Barossa, 8% McLaren, and a little Clare Valley and a little Magill fruit with a small 2% of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. At this youthful stage, this deep garnet-purple colored wine puts forward a vivid expression of blackberry preserve aromas amid underlying cassis, black cherry, spice box, char-grilled meat and chocolate box notes. Surprisingly medium to full-bodied (it smells much fuller!) with taut flavors that are very closed in the mouth, it has firm, chewy tannins to structure through the long and earthy finish. 406 cases imported to the US. Drink it 2018 to 2035+."

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $71.99!
94+ Wine Advocate
(2/2014) "A blend of 88% Grenache, 9% Shiraz and 3% Graciano, the 100% estate-grown, medium garnet-purple colored 2012 Eclipse is profoundly scented of red currant jelly, raspberry preserves and dried mulberries with an undercurrent of spice cake, pepper, cardamom and eucalyptus. Big, full and richly fruited on the palate, the generous red berry preserve and spicy flavors are well supported by medium to firm, velvety tannins and enlivening acid through the finish with great persistence. Drink it now to 2024+."

(6/1/2016) "Savvy shoppers may be able to find this for about $20, making it an excellent deal in a full-bodied, structured red wine. Cassis, vanilla and plum notes mark the nose and palate, finishing with a flourish of dusty-textured tannins. Drink now-2025."

(3/2016) "Deep ruby. Fresh, perfumed scents of ripe dark berries, violet and cola, with a peppery nuance adding vivacity. Smooth and broad on entry, then more taut in the middle, offering sweet blackberry and cherry flavors and a building touch of vanilla. Generous, supple Shiraz with solid finishing punch and gentle tannins sneaking in late to add grip."

90 Wine Advocate
(7/2015) "Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Shiraz The Lodge Hill is redolent of eucalyptus, Chinese five spice, blackberries, black cherries and pepper hints, then fills the medium to full-bodied palate with a good amount of chewy tannins and plenty of spicy black fruit before ending medium to long in the finish."

Robert Oatley Vineyards "Wild Oats" Central Ranges Shiraz 2013

89 Our Score
(4/2017) "New vintage of this great value from Australian winemaking and sailing legend Bob Oatley. Ideal for any pop 'n pour occasion, this delicious, easy-going Shiraz serves up flavors of supple and clean red fruits, cocoa powder, red licorice and an underlying note of maple bacon. This continues to be one of the best values out there for Shiraz."
