Tolaini "Picconero" Toscana Rosso 2010

94 James Suckling
94 Wine Advocate
(10/2014) "A compelling blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, the 2010 Picconero Tenuta Montebello packs a powerful punch in terms of density and concentration. This expression is rich and chewy with dark cherry and blackberry as protagonist. Solid supporting roles are played by tobacco, spice and bitter dark chocolate. The 2010 vintage shows a superior sense of finesse and silkiness in the mouth. Picconero can be put aside for long cellar aging."

Tenuta di Valgiano Colline Lucchesi 2012

The 10th consecutive vintage to receive the coveted "Tre Bichhieri" (Three Glass) award from Gambero Rosso!
93+ Our Score
95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(10/2015) "The flagship 2012 Tenuta di Valgiano is beautifully resonant and generous in the glass, but also translucent in its ample beauty. Pine, mint, wild flowers and spices add an appealing upper register as the 2012 shows off its radiant personality. The Tenuta is a bit less overt and ripe than the Palistorti, but, it, too is not a shy wine. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. This is the finest wine I have tasted from Valgiano, without question. Drink 2016-2032."

Tenuta di Valgiano "Palistorti" Colline Lucchesi Rosso 2012

91 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(10/2015) "The 2012 Palistorti di Valgiano is bursting at the seams with personality. Juicy dark cherries, smoke, earthiness, licorice and violets are all super-expressive in the glass. Fleshy and boisterous, with plenty of intense, super-ripe fruit, the 2012 Palistorti di Valgiano delivers the goods, and then some. Drink this fleshy, immensely pleasing red over the next handful of years."

Tenuta di Valgiano "Palistorti" Colline Lucchesi Rosso 2013

89+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2016) "The Palistorti di Valgiano is quite powerful and austere in 2013. The flavors are bright and intense, but not fully expressive today. Sweet red cherry, floral and saline notes abound in the 2013, a wine that will benefit from another year or two in bottle. Drink: 2018 - 2023."

Tolaini "Al Passo" Toscana Rosso 2010

91 James Suckling
92 Wine Advocate
(10/2014) "The 2010 Al Passo is a pretty blend of Sangiovese and a smaller percentage of Merlot from an elegant vintage. The wine is redolent of sweet spice and tobacco with lingering prune and dark cherry. The tobacco theme is strong with dried cigar leaf and ash. The wine is lively in the mouth, with a tight vein of acidity that keeps it from feeling heavy on the palate."

Michele Satta Bolgheri Rosso 2013

91 Our Score
91 Wine Advocate
(10/2015). "Michele Satta's 2013 Bolgheri Rosso hits all the right buttons. This is a complete and generous wine with loads of bright fruit intensity followed by balanced notes of spice, leather and tobacco. These aromas are well measured to contrast one another. The mouthfeel is generous and round without going overboard. There is a great sense of balance and harmony here."

Poggio Al Tufo "Rompicollo" Sangiovese/Cabernet 2013

90 Our Score
(9/2016) Is Rompicollo the best darn Sangiovese / Cabernet Sauvignon blend value ever? We think so. For four or five years now, the Rompicolo has blown us away. This 2013, the usual blend 60% Sangiovese and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, has that Tuscan leather, cedar, cherry/berry, earth thing going on. Good structure, good balance and smooth tannins in the finish. Fantastic as usual.
