Today, the fruit is naturally quite primary, so readers who prefer more shades of nuance will want to cellar the 2011 for at least a few years."

(5/2017) This wine, from the inimitable Elisabetta Foradori, is one of the most exciting sub-$25 reds we've tasted this year. Grown at her property in the foothills of northeast Italy's Dolomite Mountains, the beauty and soul of this black rock mineral-driven wine absolutely blew us away. Made from the region's indigenous Teroldego grape varietal, and farmed with organic and biodynamic practices, the wine offers deep and pure red and black fruit notes. With a hint of smoke, olive, and salumi, some might make comparisons to Northern Rhone Syrah, but with a sense of softness and polish that is totally unique to the wines of Elisabetta. A wine of vitality, authenticity, and deliciousness, it stands alone in a category of distinctiveness and value.
