Tenuta di Tavignano "Misco" Verdicchio del Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2015

Italy's most respected wine publication, Gambero Rosso, blind tasted over 45,000 wines in 2016. Out of those, only 429 earned their top "Tre Bichhieri" rating. From those top wines, they narrowed it down to a single "White Wine of the Year." That is what we have here!

(3/2017) This wine is so very special. The 2015 Misco spent six months aging on the lees resulting in a depth that is extremely unusual for a wine of this price. From the moment you pour yourself a glass, the vibrant aromas of stone fruit, fresh cut herbs and stony minerality will pull you in. Then you'll take the first sip and find "it" - that seductive mouthfeel that only the best wines have. You'll savor the flavors and then move on to the refreshing, impeccably balanced and superbly clean finish that leaves just an essence of salty sea breeze cascading across your palate. The freshness makes it a perfect pairing for any flaky white fish or sushi and the complexity makes it magical to drink on its own.

Pievalta Verdicchio dei Castelli de Jesi Classico Superiore 2015

Back in March we featured the 2015 "Misco" Verdicchio from Tavignano which Gambero Rosso picked as Italy's White Wine of the Year. It's hard to believe, but this one may be even better!

(7/2017) With a rich mineral component and a great depth of flavor, the 2015 Pievalta is very reminiscent of a top bottling from Chablis. Aromas of lemon and apple lead the way to beautiful mineral and sea-salt notes from the constant breeze off the Adriatic sea and a subtle - and quite interesting - quinine quality on the finish. The texture and overall experience here is very special and very refined. This will make a lot of people very happy.
