Bodegas Ontanon "Vetiver" Rioja Viura 2014

#62 - Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2016!
91 Wine Spectator
(12/15/2016) "This bold white marries expressive flavors to a muscular texture. Pear and quince notes mingle with brioche, chamomile and dried pineapple details, with juicy acidity and light tannins lending support. Lively now, this should harmonize with time. Drink now through 2024. 2,000 cases made."

Bodegas Muriel Rioja Blanco 2015

89 Our Score
(9/2016) Bodegas Muriel has turned out a lovely white Rioja with this 100% Viura bottling. Viura plays a prominent role in Cava production where it is known as Macabeo. In Rioja, it is the shining star of the region's white wines. While some white Riojas see lengthy barrel aging resulting in a more oxidative style, this version is bright and clean with appealing aromas and flavors of peach, citrus and tropical fruit. The bright, zippy acidity and subtle minerality makes every sip quite refreshing. Try it with ceviche or grilled shrimp. Yum!
