Martinelli "Giuseppe & Luisa" Russian River Valley Zinfandel 2013

93 Wine Advocate
(3/2016) "The 2013 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa (16.3% as well) is another wine made from Jackass Hill clonal material. These are younger vines, but the wine displays plenty of black cherry liqueur, blackberry, charcoal, barbecue smoke, meat and almost Asian soy and spice. It is a full-bodied, full-throttle, pedal-to-the-metal style of Zinfandel to drink over the next decade. Luckily, this is the biggest cuvée of 2013 Zinfandel, checking in 664 cases total."

Hartford Court "Highwire Vineyard" Russian River Valley Old Vine Zinfandel 2012

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $53.99!
95 Wine Advocate
(12/2013) "The 2012 Zinfandel Highwire Vineyard, a site that is half head-pruned and half on a high wire trellising system, sees more new French oak (52%), and achieved 15.5% natural alcohol. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by a rich, full-bodied wine displaying lots of boysenberry, black raspberry and cherry fruit intermixed with hints of incense and Asian spice. Supple tannins and a big, pedal-to-the-metal, juicy, succulent style suggest it will drink well for 5-6 years. "

Turley "Pesenti Vineyard" Paso Robles Zinfandel 2014

96 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2016) "From the pure white soils/limestone terroir emerges the 2014 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard (15.8% alcohol). This is a warm area, but with cold soils, and the result is one of the great classics of Zinfandel from the Central Coast. The intensity of flavor, the colossal richness and the full-bodied power are totally concealed beneath a cascade of fruit. This multidimensional wine reveals gorgeous minerality, loads of black and red fruits, and even a hint of spring flowers. This is a stunner that is layered, extremely long, pure and heady. Drink it over the next decade. The Pesenti Vineyard was planted in the 1920s."

Bedrock Wine Co. "Monte Rosso Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Zinfandel 2013

94+ Our Score
91-94 Wine Advocate
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(1/2015) "The 2013 Zinfandel Monte Rosso is fabulous. A dark, opulent wine, the 2013 is endowed with magnificent power and richness. Inky blue and black fruit, smoke, licorice and dark spices meld together in the glass. The firm mountain are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. Grilled herbs, smoke and lavender add nuance on the close. This is a fabulous expression of Monte Rosso, one of the most historic and pedigreed vineyards in northern California."

Turley "Kirschenmann Vineyard" Lodi Zinfandel 2015

Winemakers Notes
"Now in its second iteration, the Kirschenmann is particularly close to our hearts as our winemaker, Tegan Passalacqua, owns and farms this vineyard. The ungrafted vines were planted in 1915 in the silica-rich sandy soils of the east side of the Mokelumne River AVA. Thanks to the river's cool waters and delta breezes, these head-trained, dry-farmed vines are constantly protected from the heat."

Ledge Vineyards "Dusi Ranch" Paso Robles Zinfandel 2014

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2016) "Dark purple. Heady, smoke- and spice-accented aromas of blackberry and cherry liqueur and incense take on a hint of Indian spices as the wine opens up. Lush and expansive in the mouth, offering palate-staining black and blue fruit preserve and fruitcake flavors that are lifted and sharpened by a vibrant mineral element. Becomes spicier and more energetic with air and finishes extremely long and smooth; velvety tannins lend gentle grip. Drinking window: 2019 - 2025."

Ridge "Geyserville" Alexander Valley Zinfandel Blend 2014

93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
93 Wine Advocate
93+ Our Score
(4/2016) This vintage of Geyserville is a blend of 60% Zinfandel, 24% Carignan, 12% Petite Sirah and 4% Mataro. The wine pours a deep, glass staining purple with instantly intense aromatics. The depth produced by these 130 year old vines is immediately apparent as this Zinfandel-based blend leaps out of the glass with ripe, rich black fruits followed by seductive floral tones. The velvety palate of cherry and blackberry are deep and rich with that lifting floral note - all backed by lively acidity to keep the mouth watering. We were awed by the silky mouthfeel and expressive flavors.

Ridge "Pagani Ranch" Zinfandel 2014

93 Wine Advocate
92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(6/2016) "The 2014 Pagani Ranch is the most immediate and obvious of the 2014 Zinfandels I tasted at Ridge. Ripe, forward and opulent, the Pagani will please readers who like a more flashy, up-front style. I expect the Pagani will offer most of its charms sooner rather than later, which makes it a terrific choice for drinking on the young side. I don't see the pedigree or complexity of the best Zinfandels in the lineup, but the Pagani is delicious. This site seems to naturally produce a riper style as full flavor development and tannin maturity only take place late in the season. Drinking window: 2016 - 2024."
